Hey guys first time poster here. I am hating choking down bland oatmeal in the morning. If I just throw it in a scoop of whey and drink it will my body still break it down for me to get the good stuff out of it(the carbs and calories I need to get me thru the morning). I understand that it wont fill me up as much but I dont wanna drink them if it is way less effective. Thanks in advance.

IS there a significant difference between eating oats or drinking them?

Actually yes OP, there is a difference. Its the reason modern pro-bodybuilders have big guts.
In the 70's, people used to drink all their meals. When you drink oats, they go straight to the lungs, expanding the rib cage and helping you achieve that Arnold vacuum pose.
Bodybuilders today eat their food, which means it ends up in the stomach. Don't become pregnant, drink your food.

You will take longer to digest them, chewing activates digestion because your salivary glands secrete digestive enzymes that begin to work immediately whenever you start chewing, as a rule of thumb for good health you always want to chew your food as methodically as possible, but I see how that could become too time consuming

I can relate to this post as I used to dread my daily morning steel cut oatmeal ritual. Literally an hour from start to finish. I see the convenience of the shake. But nothing like having real food, especially when it's warm. For me I just adapted by waking up a sooner. Those oats are a major carb jumpstart for me. Caffeine only gets me so far before I crash.
