Is it that simple? For cutting and bulking provided training and macros are in place, is that all it takes? People have told me keto with refeeds are superior for fat loss but im not sure, is it all about the law of thermodynamics? Is meal timing irrelevent? Can i just eat all my calories in one or two big meals? Is it really that simple?

Is it really as simple as calories in vs calories out?

For the most part. Micros and fiber are important too.

You can if you want. There's some benefit to having more meals, at least 3-4 in terms of MPS, but this is a minor detail. What you eat is more important than when you eat it.Last edited by Partyrocking; 08-02-2017 at 01:10 PM.

Dietary fiber helps your digestive system keep itself cleaned out and working efficiently; this equates to being able to absorb and use all the nutrients contained in the foods you eat rather than some of them being eliminated, unused.
You should probably spend some time reading, here, and get yourself up to speed on the basics of proper nutrition:

I've always been skeptical about that logic, techincally i could eat a box of pizza and a large soda everyday since im cutting at 2400 calories and losing weight
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.
-I'd rather live life saying "I failed" than "I could have"

kinda. ultimately yes but there's a couple of key points to consider.
you don't digest all of the calories you consume.
calories in affects calories out. for example if you don't eat during a day, your body will compensate for that by going into a power saving mode. you might feel tired and lethargic until you eat (or you get an adrenaline boost).
why would you want to eat all of your calories in 1 or 2 big meals? you'll spend half your life with the itis and the other half hungry.

Well, you would still lose weight if your maintenance is above 2400 kcal a day, no matter how crappy quality your food is and if you eat all those 2400 kcals in one sitting.
However, ofcourse this would ALSO make a difference for body composition; eating all your kcals in one sitting will make you only reach leucine treshhold one time that day and you will not last an entire day with the proteins taken in, so anabolism is wayyyy less optimal than lets say 3 meals spread apart.
Furthermore eating only a bit of pizza and drinking soda will ofcourse not contain a lot of protein anyway, so you would def. break down musclemass, because other processes like renewal of skin, organ tissue, wounds etc etc also require amino acids and are way higher up the ladder of essential to survival than maintaining musclemass.
So yea, you would lose weight on beforementioned diet, as well in musclemass as in fatmass.
'power saving mode' does not occur that fast. You would be perfectly fine eating 1 or 2 meals if you would make kcal goals, concering maintaining metabolism.
