When I travel for work I bring my Wife. I just have to pay for her flight and food and the rest of it is covered. Works out well, she does tourist stuff that I'm not interested in while I work and then we find great places to eat in the evening. One of our vendors just picks up the bill for everything including spouses, but they should really put the money into fixing their software before we drop them.

Would like to see the pics. Plz reattach.
I'm gonna hit the Sand Dune National Park, San Juan Mtns and Black Canyon if anyone has any hikes they recommend. No 4x4, so some trails I am limited to. I have quite a few saved, but would like more recommendations for Silverton, Ouray, and Telluride area.

Just wondering if any of you have been to Africa and care to share some experiences and/or pictures. Now that have taken up a photography interest and having a nikon 500 mm lens on the way, some places there seem almost magical. I've just quickly looked at Tanzania and Zanzibar thinking how amazing it would be with a kind of safari trip for the first half - being inland and then finishing off with a few days on the beautiful beaches of Zanzibar island. Looking at youtube vids atm and it seems like a paradise. Africa never entered my mind before, but maybe it could be something.
Btw: Going to Gotland (again) on Thursday so hoping to share some more soon.

Those aren't mine. I just got back last night. I got better pics than these IMO. I'll try to upload a few this week.
I must say, I saw some parts of Colorado I didn't know were so beautiful. I've never heard anyone talk about SW Colorado, and every place I went was beautiful.★★★ A State of Trance Crew ★★★

Waiting/trying to push for my case # for a refund (delayed my trip a day last time + cabs+hotel) with SAS so can book a trip to Vienna Austria. (Supposedly 2X the money if take refund as SAS Voucher rather than cash so flights should be paid for in that sense) Really would like to experience their "Summer Night Concert 2023" on June 8 th. It's very beautiful, at Schönbrunn Palace.

Not worrying too much atm about hotels....thought they would be more expensive, but then again forget I live in an expensive country so seems I can get "half" price here.Last edited by steffo99; 09-05-2022 at 05:08 PM.

No pics really worth sharing, but a couple weeks ago my roller coaster family took off to Virginia for Busch Gardens and Kings Dominion for half a week, then shot up to NJ for Six Flags for a day. Even better, I got to meet and spend a day w/a cousin (& her children) for the first time since we were babies. That was pretty cool!
End of the month we're going to Disney for Halloween and will knock out a few other area attractions. No other big area parks, though we are doing those in NovLifting. Hockey. Headbanging.

Last week I had to cancel plans for Florida that I'd had planned for months. Waited out the hurricane as long as possible but canceled the day before we were to leave, which was the day it was supposed to get bad. We had Disney Halloween party plans, so I had that stuck in my mind. I canceled all that, scrambled to set up accommodations to get us to California, and we took a red-eye in that same night.
Since we're theme park nuts, Wednesday was open to close at Six Flags. Thursday was 530am-1030pm for both Disneyland parks (wake up to leaving the park), and Friday we did Knott's Berry Farm for most the day and then forced a nap before another red-eye home.
As tired as we were, it was totally worth it and we (parents) were back to normal in a day or so. Kid was pretty much fine once we were home.Lifting. Hockey. Headbanging.

That's good. I've got some friends a bit south of that area who had some severe things to deal with, but nothing TOO bad, all things considered.
It seems the worst happened last Wed/Thur, which were the days of my flight and the Disney visit. All the parks were closed down those days, and we returned on Saturday so we wouldn't have been able to salvage anything at that point even if we did get there. I would have been so pissed if we got there somehow and then everything shut down in our face anyway =SLifting. Hockey. Headbanging.

Wife and I just booked our flights to Japan in March. She had enough points on her Chase cards to cover both of our flights.
We'll be there for about a week and half. Flying in and out of Tokyo, but going to take the train down to Osaka for a couple days too since our neighbor is from there and will be there visiting her family at the same time.
Really excited for this as it'll be my first time in Asia.Age: 42

Took 4 months, but was worth the wait. A flight of mine got cancelled this past summer and I was out some extra expenses for cabs and already paid hotel etc. I got the option to chose SAS voucher instead of cash back as compensation for double the amount.
Turns out there was also an extra EU rule as well to give a flat rate sum regardless, on top of the regular voucher, adding 500 EUROS. Then they send me 2 vouchers seemingly by mistake for the original amt, so in total I got 3 vouchers for 7X the amount I was originally out and enough to possibly pay for 3 round trips this coming year. Now I just need to figure out where to go.

Wife turns 50 in Aug, she wants me to book 4 or 5 nights??? in NYC. Been over on work trip years ago but that was a bit different (2001) and all I remember was all night bar crawls, so no idea what tourists are supposed to do. She probably wants to go on some Friends themed tour (I've still never watched an episode) but it's her birthday.
Think I'll book after Christmas if I have any money left.Faith in Jesus first and faith in squats second.
Then other details will start to slot themselves into place.

Interesting, we are talking about going there in April or May, before hot humid weather and throngs of summer tourists. We have family near Boston so they will meet us there. We wanted to go a couple of years ago...then Covid.
I have never been. Thinking we are staying probably 4 nites.
Simple matter for us, 5 hour drive to Albany then Amtrak (or even Metro North) into Manhattan. Not interested in flying, had enough of that earlier this year.
Not sure what I want to see, probably all the regular stuff such as the MET, wall street, central park, rikers island, maybe a ball game (if the Jays are in town), and broadway, possibly ground zero. Not interested in shopping or going out all night to bars. Looking for suggestions
AirBnB or hotels, not sure about that either. Please record my time/reps if I pass out

So we got to Florida in November, which we'd planned to do anyway before the hurricane chnaged our plans.
As always, we were in total tourist fun mode:
Day 1: Busch Gardens - their #1 roller coaster went down THE DAY we arrived and remained so for a week. It only opened this year and we were incredibly bummed to not ride it as my son's 100th coaster. But he did hit and surpass that # on this trip, just not with as monumental of a coaster as the anticipated one. Fed some kangaroos though! We like to do an animal tour or two each time we go here or Seaworld, it's always a blast.
Day 2: Busch Gardens, hoping the coaster would be open. Nope. Hit a few rides before crowds arrived, then drove up to Orlando as planned. Did Aquatica and a Disney character dinner to round out the evening
Day 3: Discovery Cove
Day 4: Kennedy Space Center, magic show at night, interactive museum
Day 5: Seaworld
Day 6: Epcot
Day 7: Funspot amusement park for a couple rides, quick tour of a chocolate factory, a couple museums, and evening flight back home.
Whew!
Wife's been dying for a relaxing vacation, so next month we're doing 5 days at a beach resort on Marco Island. I will however sneak a trip to Busch Gardens into one of the free days we have before hitting the resort. We have to ride that damn coaster
This is all well & good, but the real anticipation is for CA + Hawaii in February. Absolutely cannot wait. Been putting off Hawaii since our 2020 plans when everything went to hell.Lifting. Hockey. Headbanging.

been to Kenia (Mombasa), Tanzania, Ethiopia, Somali, Egypt, Tunis, Ivory Coast etc, hard to remember some places. The only two worth visiting would be Kenia and Tanzania. Both are lush green, with wonderful nature and great people. And food. Northern Africa is not worth visiting, unless you do some research on pyramids or what not, these are countries of thieves and liars, you may not enjoy it. I never did. This goes for Djibouti and Madagascar, same shiit.
