Can we just stop for a second and look at how far Twitch has fallen from their initial dream of it being a platform in which gamers can demonstrate their game play with an interactive audience? Have you stepped into the "IRL" section lately? Twitch has full on become myfreecams-lite. You used to get banned if you weren't playing a game, now there are streamers(mostly women) who stream nothing but themselves sitting in a bikini at a pool. Some of the IRL streams can be interesting, like Reckful(former pro WoW arena player) who streamed basically his entire trip to Japan, but those are few and far between.
And then there's the subscription button, which has become a joke. Before Amazon bought Twitch, the sub button was something exclusive that you had to actually earn via having a large fan base, consistent streams with a minimum of like 150 viewers at a time, etc... Now since Amazon bought Twitch and has monetized everything, you basically get a sub button no matter what. You can be a streamer with 2 viewers who streams once a month and you get a sub button. Yes it's a smart way for Amazon to make a few bucks, but it's completely negated any sort of hard work that previous streamers put in to achieve that goal.
Point is, Twitch has become a joke of it's former self.

Not sure Twitch "fell from their initial dream" considering they sold to amazon for almost a billion $ hehe.
It's definitely different and I agree the IRL section is weird and completely unnecessary as it doesn't fit with the rest of the channel.
As for the sub buttons, it doesnt really make a difference, you still need hundreds of consistent viewers to make a living. If someone wants to give some random guy $5 it doesnt negatively impact anyone else. Although I do know a few partners who were salty because they think they'll lose prime subs to these people but most partners I watch don't think it's a bad thing at all

Twitch is garbage, I hadn't been watching streams as often since I can see most of them on youtube, but as soon as they started injecting ads directly into the stream so you can't ad block them was the last time I visited Twitch.

1. It still is a platform where gamers can demonstrate their gameplay with an interactive audience though. So the dream is still alive.
2. Don't see the problem here? Things get added/removed, things change. If you don't want to see the IRL stuff, just don't click on the IRL tab? Instead of women whoring themselves, under the disguise of playing a game, they have their own category now where they can do just that or other things not related to games, without fooling anyone. There clearly is an audience for it, so what does it matter? And the women that are left streaming games, chances are big that they genuinely like being a gamer/streamer and aren't in it for a quick buck over horny nerds. This was a good change imo.
3. This could just as well been a feature from the very beginning and no one would've bat an eye about it. It's just more practical and user friendly.

I don't see the 'IRL' section as being at odds with what Twitch is. For a lot of people, Twitch acts as a surrogate for connection and a sense of community. The IRL section just cuts through some of the noise.
I've never been a big Twitch/streaming fan though, I find the whole faux relationship between streamer and sub to be very unsavory.

the IRL is the only one of its kind on twitch and its not really that popular, in comparison to all the other channels. Sometimes, streamers will put it on IRL prior to gaming so the section gets a huge bump in viewers for a short time.
Im glad they have it because it keeps me from going into a gamers channel until they boot up their game. I dont care to watch them talk to chat or what the streamer is doing outside of gaming. Its a good notification system for me.Carb Mal-absorption, no breads, sugary snacks, rice, pasta...live off of 30-40g a day.

bro that type of income won't last long. That website was up and running around 2011. That's because in the real world, the plenty of jobs that are continue to hire are down-right chitty for obvious reasons. fast-food, retail, call-centers, and even the post office for fuk's sakes.
on one hand we have streamers asking for donations as if they have no dignity or self-respect at all
on the other hand we have paycheck-to-paycheck working wagecels.Black Miscer Crew

Twitch peaked 2 years ago. The feeling I'm getting is that the idea of watching ppl play got boring over time. Chat is less cancerous. The whole concept jumped the shark, it was never gonna be a permanent fascination, just a temporary phase and then the bubble of the concept burst.
All that's left is the sub/dom dichotomy of human interaction which yes is essentially my free cams lite. The rest of the gamers looking to learn and see good gameplay just watch YouTube presentation of that same content which is a more efficient format for what they were looking for.

I dont agree with that at all. Most of the top players of competitive games stream to some degree and watching them live is 1000x better than watching an old youtube clip where you can actually ask people questions and get answers real time. Plus there is an entertainment factor that is largely overlooked.
Twitch is still growing and probably hasnt reached its prime yet (amazon pun intended)
edit: lol and then of course twitch sites goes downLast edited by wisdommaster1; 07-16-2017 at 03:35 PM.

Dr. Disrespect started streaming again a few months ago and is already up to 20k subs and average 15-20k viewers consistently. Most of the big boys do and I've seen a lot of streamers average 1k and get nice donations.
I like twitch because its good background stuff to put on while you do work.Last year I spent more money on spilled liquor in bars than 99% of miscers make in a year.

I don't get it either. Don't get me wrong, I watch gamers on Youtube, but that's because they produce an entertaining clip that is fun to watch, I don't wanna watch some ******* pick his nose for 15 minutes before a match starts
I'd rather enjoy the game myselfMe caveman, put round things on bar, lift, pound chest.
