If I go and purchase some ripple say $500 worth, where is it stored? Is it like a regular investment portfolio?

also people have to understand Ripple is it's own tech and XRP is independent of it to some extent, i wouldn't be shocked if banks create their own block chain currencies and just use ripple for the tech.
meaning XRP toilets and Ripple becomes a big company.

You can only buy the big hitter tokens on Coinbase, Bitcoin, Eth and Litecoin. If you want the "alt" coins you have to send that money to a Coin exchange like gdax or bittrex to use the BTC or eth to purchase other coins.Originally Posted by tunafish01

edit: its not shares you own, this isn't a stock, its a coin, that only has value as it is perceived by the market. a good analogy is the USD is only worth a dollar because it's backed by the US government and military might, its intrinsic value is nothing, it's just paper in Crypto the value is determined, mostly by speculation and # of coins, and potential applied application for the coin.

Ripple is the least likely to go anywhere srs the people who develop it have said numerous times that they don't want the price to go up because of speculation and they will enact measures to keep the price of ripple low if necessary.
