    Becoming a Personal Trainer

Hey, all! I am looking into personal training, and have a few questions I would like to ask.

    1. What are your opinions on online programs
    2. What do you think of the job outlook?
3.NASM vs. CI-CPT? I have heard the CI-CPT is respected in Texas, but won't get me much further.

    Thanks!

NSCA, NASM, ACSM, ACE, AFFA, ISSA, Coooper-any of these certifications would get you a decent gig. ( Would go the NASM route)

Job outlook-depends on the gym/studio and your location. I know some trainers who only have 2/3 clients any train them out of anytime fitness just to make a little extra side money.

Put your money with organizations that are actively trying to improve this corrupted industry. I would go with one of the CREP/USREPS organizations, NSCA, ACSM, NCSF, CI, or ACE. NASM is not one of them.

Go to college. Get an Exercise Science degree.

    1) I do online training, and I think it is the future of personal training.

    2) Job outlook is huge with the growing obesity epidemic... people are already making the switch to focusing on health. And trainers will be a huge part of that.

    3) NASM is respected. Not heard of CI-CPT. But, I learned more about actual training from leisure reading than the PT manuals along with my cert...
