Is NBA more about being a fan of a player or team?

KD was on the Bill Simmons podcast and they were discussing Rihanna being a LeBron fan. Essentially Durant said the NBA is more about attaching yourself to players.

Do you agree that NBA is more about being a fan of a player rather than a team?

i understand being a fan of a player over a team ONLY if you don't have a team geographically.

for example, i stan LBJ & cristiano ronaldo. if i were from new orleans, i'd stan the pelicans. when i root for rugby teams, i only support my local team. since that's not an option for american/euro sports but i'm still a massive fan my attachment to teams is a lot less.

i still root for the nuggets for example but it's hard to find that extra motivation to watch most of their games when they are shiet and i'm not from there. you could call that fairweather but it's also a duty of the team to their fans to put on a product that is worth supporting.

THAT SAID, the warriors hype has nothing to do with anything other than anti-lebron. maybe 3% of their fans love golden state, or curry, or KD. any team that provided new blood and took titles away from lebron would have a huge following.

Depends, only some franchises are worth following ex. the spurs, no individual player is really in the spotlight/on the mic. Rather, its their system which people pay to watch and will cheer for.

too bad most franchises are absolute trash and always hunting for the 1 franchise player rather than creating a solid system upon which to build, develop, and draft players

You're a certified cuck if you're a fan of a team due to some arbitrary geographical location.
james harden is known to be THE most hung guy in hollywood, possibly one of the biggest in the world. his cock has been described as "like an evian bottle", with gargantual thickness that would rival shane diesel and shorty mac. im estimating his size to be at least 8.5" bone pressed, with OVER 7" of girth. he would have absolutely destroyed portman's pussy.

yeah that's why Curry was #2 in jersey sales in 2014-2015 & the Warriors #3 before the playoffs started and has since surpassed him

It's not arbitrary cockbreath. Supporting your city's team allows you to easily attend live games on a more regular basis, and have more connection to other fans in daily interactions. Plus it is a static thing that you can get invested in.

People who jump around with their rooting interests are not really the same thing at all. You can't ever get the sweet sweet release of success when you bandwagon a player/team after they are already a success.

The difference between supporting your local rugby/football(soccer) team vs local NBA team is NBA teams relocate. Look at the Seattle Sonics, what do the fans do after that? I think in Europe its much easier to follow local teams. Every town has one in soccer, they never relocate (or VERY rarely, I haven't seen any in years tbh). NBA/NFL it happens a decent amount.

Its the most star driven league in the world.

7 game series, only 5 people allowed on the court at a time with one ball, and stars capable of soaking 44/48 possible minutes means that theres going to be a lack of parity and variance when you have a LBJ/Steph/KD.

As someone from Seattle who lost the Sonics, I just root for players I like unlike baseball/football where one player is just the cog of a huge machine and wear helmets.

It's about sucking the cock of an individual player, which is why this section has gone to complete garbage and why NBA fandom has gone in the trash. Bunch of degenerate losers is all it's littered with now.

Do people actually feel successful when someone they'll never meet does something for themselves? That is one of the saddest things to possibly imagine... being so down and out that you actually feel success yourself watching someone else achieve their dreams as if you were a part of it.
