Just finished the game, ending was rushed. Cyrene area had little build up to it. I give it a 8.5/10. The exploration and new rpg/combat was a lot of fun. Main story was weak, I liked bayek, hopefully they focus on him more rather than aya, will see. Side quests were
a pretty good build up to the assassination targets. I hope they add a new game + with scaling difficulty.

I haven't played an Assassins's Creed game since Revelations - do you guys think I'll like Origins considering that?
I'm also a history geek, so the idea of Ancient Egypt has me massively interested. But I feel like most the stuff you guys are annoyed by, I probably wouldn't notice since it's been so long since I played a game.ωσяℓ∂ тяανєℓєя ȼяєω

First ACO DLC announced!
We pretty much get a level cap increase and a new area to explore with a quest that takes place after the story.
Also some equips for everyone including players who don't buy the DLC.

after playing the majority of the game the only SJW stuff i found was
Spoiler!
alot less SJW than id of expected. I wouldnt mind a DLC where we play as Aya while she was away from Bayek. Would fit ubi's SJW sht (female lead) but she was actuall pretty badass herself. Alot moreso than whatever girl we played as in syndicateKeep mod discussions out of your sig line

That's been my experience. I think you'd have to individually select each player's picture then select the option to hide their pictures. Who wants to spend three hours of game time deselecting other people's pictures?
I've learned to deal with it.
I just really want the option to remove the constant white dot that appears while crouching and during flights of Senu.
The only way to do it now is to remove all hud options, but that has the adverse effect of removing the targeting while aiming a bow.
Who came up with that junk?
Other than the janky white dot I'm thoroughly digging this game. I have one campaign going where I'm grinding to level 40 just by killing people. I'm at 21 now."Better well hung than ill wed." - Kierkegaard

Apologies for bumping this after a year, but:
I bought this game because I really enjoyed Odyssey but have to say that the combat system in Origins is a bit ridiculous. You get a quest like 'secure this cart for the priest' and the cart has someone on it who will take a solid 10 seconds or so to melee down, all the while his 5 escorts have aimbot like arrow accuracy, sometimes a hit takes almost half your health, etc. I feel like the Odyssey combat made a lot more sense, especially with strategic powerup use.
I'm having to go out of my way to farm hippos and alligators or whatever for the tougher leather to upgrade my 'bracer' and 'breastplate'. It makes for a fairly tedious way of playing the game because there is no organic way to 'farm components' while you're doing actual questing unless you're disassembling things (so my assassin blade is upgraded fairly well).
I read Podunks' post earlier in this thread and probably should have before I bought the game, but it's a shame because I like the story. As shameful as it'll sound, this is one game where the 'upgrading' is so tedious I sometimes think it'd be better if I just automated it, heh. Odyssey's resource management was way better IMO.

Thanks for bumping, I just bought Origins and was looking for this thread.
I've been consistently upgrading my weapons and haven't had much issue killing non-Phylakes on Hard. Phylakes though I can't even dent. When you get surrounded is when you can pull of some really cool ninja chit with Warrior tree abilities. Even with consistent upgrades my gold stash goes up from selling stuff or looting chests which has been done on the fly so far (no grinding). Upgrading your armor & hidden blade definitely takes the most work, but I find hunting fun actually. The animals aren't difficult and bows make it easy.
Only level 20 right now but I really enjoy the game, but the story hasn't gripped me like AC 1-2 did. The other thing I notice that's lacking is the out-of-animus storytelling/problem solving. I remember AC1-2 having these really cool mysteries to solve that tied in illuminati stuff.
I'm also a total history geek, so seeing Egypt in all its glory is awesome.ωσяℓ∂ тяανєℓєя ȼяєω

I just read Podunks' post about the microtransactions. Always annoying to see that, but I'll say that I didn't even know you could buy in-game currency, nor do I think you'd ever need to.
Like I mentioned above, my gold stash has been increasing despite upgrading several weapons at a time. And if you want to start upgrading purple weapons - you may just need to do a little burglary. So if you ask me, the game is on point with currency. You'll probably need to buy Drachmas if you want to collect all the cosmetic upgrades, though.

Sure, and I hope I didn't imply that really with my posts. I bought it with the DLC included so you start with these unique (gold) weapons/shields/bows that cost 2500 gold per upgrade.
More than that I think it was the radical difference in combat style from Odyssey (where I could take on groups) to Origins (where I get slaughtered by groups on horseback that have incredible bow aim at huge distances even as they ride away from you). I mean, it seems like Origins tries to force you far more to stealth/caution whereas with Odyssey I embraced the warrior tree and assassin - I spent 0 points in the hunter side of things in Odyssey and could still slaughter all the arena challenges with relative ease.
Whereas in Odyssey I think I died 4 times or so (naval battles took some getting used to) I have died about 10 times in Origins, including 'jumping to my death' where I miss the perfect landing. I miss the manual save from Odyssey as well.
I lost my save game in a moment of madness so I'm starting Origins over from the beginning and we'll see if my impressions change at all.

I dont have those gold weapons. So far I've been finding blues that are as strong or stronger than even my upgraded purple weapons, so I just upgrade whatever is strongest. Usually upgrading at least 1 crit weapon and 1 adrenaline weapon.
I haven't played Odyssey yet, but I'd say the only disappointment with Origins is the LACK of stealth options in the talent tree. I've gone something like...80% warrior, 15% Seer, 5% Hunter. A stealth bonus bow is insanely strong in Origins, so there's not much need to max Hunter IMO. I have definitely died about 10 times already in Origins on Hard. if you get staggered by a mace wielder and surrounded it's tough to recover.
And yeah..NPC arrows are too accurate. You kinda have to time zig-zags between their shots. Oh but I love the naval battles. Much cooler than I expected.ωσяℓ∂ тяανєℓєя ȼяєω

i havent actually played Origins in a while but if i remember right there was a "skill" that allowed for automated looting after killing. That helped immensly with hunting cause you could just rip around on your horse slashing at every animal that walked by and automatically pick up there loot. Also look for "alpha" animals that are the kings of different habitats. Theyre good bang for your buck.
There isnt much outside the animus, tbh im glad those were always the worst parts. I buy AC games to play in ancient settings not run around in today time.
I enjoyed the storyline, but will admit it was slow to start with and very confusing until about the later 3rd, which was very rushed.Keep mod discussions out of your sig line

I've seen a few auto-loot skills, thing is you can loot from your mount so I just rapidly tap Y while around the corpse. I just got to Memphis and this is the first time where I've felt like I need to gather up supplies/grind to upgrade my stuff, and it's OK to have a very small amount of grinding in a game. The story also just started grabbing my attention. I just did that stage with the crazy gigantic cobra and the scene below Khufu's tomb.
I always liked the outside of animus stuff (didn't play AC III-Origins tho) because like I mentioned it added a layer of complexity to the story. The assassin world is obviously way cooler but I liked the concept of time traveling > going back to the future > connecting dots between the past with the animus puzzles/pc documents. It's a unique style of storytelling which is why I think AC always has such loyal and fervent fans.ωσяℓ∂ тяανєℓєя ȼяєω

yeah there's auto-loot for stealth kills, assassinations, and kills from your horse I think. all well worth it
pro-tip: upgrade your weapons as little as you think necessary until you find your endgame weapons. an upgrade from weapon level 25-26 usually costs the same as an upgrade from level 15-26. or from 39-40, vs 26-40. the cost is more dependent on the quality of the weapon and the level you're bringing it up to, than the difference in level to the upgraded version, if that makes sense
another pro-tip: keep an eye out for a flaming hunter bow"So there I am sitting in the waiting area of the hair salon with my niece and Keanu Reeves walks in. I was nervous as ****, but too scared to say anything to him. Then my niece started crying, and I’m trying to quiet her down because I don't want to bother him. Pretty soon he walks over and asks what's wrong. I replied that she was probably hungry. He put down his magazine, picked up my niece, and lifted up his shirt, and breastfed her right there in the salon. Chill guy, really nice about it."

Thanks. So far I keep finding weapons that are slightly better in damage than what I have. But I've kept the Harpe of Perseus since early game because it seems to have good stats. I normally don't upgrade stuff that's just bleed damage.
Upgrading golds is way too expensive tho. Even with their stats it doesnt seem worth. You'll break yourself trying to get their DPS on par with the purple items.
This is what comes to mind. Even tho some of these puzzles were annoying, the story beats behind them were interesting.

Yeah the second game and brotherhood is the one that brought it all to fame. Brotherhood was probably the peak of the sci-fi depth before it became too much
But on purely a sci-fi level the first one was actually the best one
It was very potent in selling the whole franchise for the rest of its career
It's profound how deeply those first few hours of the game resonated with masses, it was unlike anything we had ever seen before
Kids legit really bought into the whole mistique hard-core
The polished second game made it famous on a widespread level the first one was the genius that set it all off
The origin story was awesome and you can't really blame them for running out of material because you can't embellish on so much forever but that initial idea and concept was brilliant
Of course they can't keep it up forever and just keep writing and writing stuff because it was the original concept was cool you can't remake the original concept again from's scratch
The continuation of it isn't as cool as the original introduced idea of it when it first blew your mind
After a while they relied more on just the historical aspect ignored the Sci-fi because there is nothing left to go with story wise and you can't blame them that's just basic limits of writingLast edited by KingSWRV; 12-27-2018 at 09:53 AM.

lol it's cuz you're still leveling up and progressing through the game. If I were you, I'd hold onto the golds for now, and wait until you max your level or get close to to upgrade them...the main difference between the blue/purple/gold weapons is amount of perks/% chance to inflict a status or steal health or whatever. Not all that noticeable earlier on when you're destroying people left and right, but makes a big difference later on when you fight stronger enemies in greater numbers.
Another pro-tip: some gold weapons have instant charging. would HIGHLY recommend keeping one of those equipped, they can save your life lmao."So there I am sitting in the waiting area of the hair salon with my niece and Keanu Reeves walks in. mirin analysis. agreed on all points.
I never played past ACII and assumed they carried on the illuminati stuff. But there's been way less of it so far in Origins. And tbh the voice below Khufu's tomb was getting irritating. Never heard such a long string of dialogue with zero meaning in a game before.
interesting. It's just I got my ass handed to me by Ptolemy's Fist and figured the stats are "just nice" but damage is more important. Crit has been the biggest help so far. I've kept all the golds tho, for sure.
And fuark, charging in like Leonidas with a spear and shield is dope. I really like the combat in this game.ωσяℓ∂ тяανєℓєя ȼяєω

Another pro-tip: i never paid attention to any of those messages after unlocking tombs or w/e. maybe a couple but I found they were kinda just filler and didn't progress the story too much. granted, I had a long hiatus from brotherhood until this one, so maybe other story elements in the games between would help connect it?
Can confirm, this is the first combat I really liked since the brotherhood/italian story line. i always focused on bows more than melee weapons though, since I played every encounter as stealthily as possible. 1 shot headshots are where it's at"So there I am sitting in the waiting area of the hair salon with my niece and Keanu Reeves walks in.
