Great solid bar but only has nubs for handles.
    Still doable though.
FYI - they have an assortment of handles to choose from now. I have the straight ones on mine.

Ralph has quite a few different options now for handles, but he's told me either go with the 5inch nubs or the angled 8inch handles.

He said the same to me about the angled handles. If you have them let me know your impression. I went with the straight ones in the standard Westside package. I just use them as a touching point if I'm not using the handles.

In using the crep at my old facility, I loved the short nub handles.

So, do you have the straight 8inch handles or the 5inch nubs? Westside package has the nubs if I'm not mistaken.

Just received my Crep Bar. It was packaged up very well but once i was able to open it up it had some spots where the paint is already coming off. Thats a minor issue and it doesnt bother me at all. The padding though have a small rip and im trying to get in contact with west side barbell to see if they can send me a replacement pad cover. We'll see maybe i'll just live with it. This is my first SSB so i really dont have anything to compare it with. The bar seems very solid and will probably withstand heavy abuse.

For the most part, all of these SSBs are worth owning. I'm just saying, if you want the best one and do the purchase once, just get the Crepinsek. It's costlier, but IMO, it's the superior SSB.

If I had to rank them in order, I'd go Crepinsek, EliteFTS Yolk V1/Edge Fitness (some say Edge made the original for EliteFTS), Rogue SSB, Elite FTS Yolk V2, BWTG SSB. To me, I prefer the way the Rogue SSB sits on the neck better than the EliteFTS V2. I wanted to like the EFS Yolk V2, but it looked more the part than it performed.

A question I get often is "if you liked your EFS Yolk V1, why did you sell it and go with the Crepinsek?"...years ago I made some trades and ended up with the Yolk V1. It did the job fine, but if there was one nit picky issue, I couldn't stand the handles. I had them off more than on, but it always bothered my, and these style SSBs with these long handles in general I don't like. I ended up having someone who wanted my EFS V1, and it was an easy choice to go Crepinsek with my next SSB.

The bottom line is you can make an argument for any of these bars. A guy who worked for me just picked up a EFS Yolk V2 for $200 barely used...that's a hell of a deal! Sure it's not the best, but at that deal, it's a fantastic acquisition if you don't have this bar. I'm basically saying it just depends how important the bar is and how much you budget to spend. For my situation, I just knew after using the Crep for years, it was the best SSB and I was willing to make that acquisition, but any of these bars can be a good add depending on the price.
I've only ever used the Rogue SSB and I like everything about it except the pads. They feel cheap and have fallen apart easily. I'm in the market to buy my own SSB - would you say edge is the way to go? I've had my eye on EFS V2 for a while but I like an SSB that sits high and forward.

You should reread the quoted text I wrote...should give you all the answers. Get the Crepinsek and be done with your search inquiries.

I understood it - conclusion was loud and clear. There's an edge SSB for $200 on CL here - which is compelling at half the price of a Crep of EFS. That's why I called it out. Budget is tight so hoping to stay in this range for now.

That changes things a bit, and at that price, that's not a bad deal, but for me, those handles are a deal breaker. That said, I'm sure Edge can make you a shorter set for $75-$100 if you wanted, but at that point, you may as well start thinking Crep instead.

If you got that from Westside, why doesn't it have the 5 inch nub handles on it? It was my understanding that's the "Westside" model now.

Probably not necessary, quick trip to Lowe's and I'm sure you could find a 1" rod/pipe that could replace the long handles that come with the Edge bar (they are just screwed in). That is assuming they bother OP, long handles never bothered me.

I was thinking it would be nice to use a shorter/no handle when I'm doing front squats. I spoke to Rich @ Edge Fitness Systems last night and he said the price of steel is increasing quite a bit, so this current batch of SSBs is likely to be their cheapest. Sales aren't likely - although I would expect shipping deals to show at some point soon.

Have you ever seen or used a Watson SSB bar? It's camber seems lower than most. Your thoughts on it?

I have a Watson SsB, I've been using it regularly for about four years, living in the UK, I don't have access to any of the SSB's recommended here, so it's not possible to make any comparisons., Personally I love the Watson SSB, I've have used other cheaper SSB's, but they never came close to the Watson.

On my SSB, in common with similar bars, the load is pushing you in a forward direction, but unlike some SSB's I've used the Watson bar isn't trying to bury your face in the floor, so the squat movement feels more natural than some SSB's. It's not the prettiest bar, but it's built like a proverbial tank, the padding is comfortable , the handles are straight and about 6 inches long and the overall finish of the bar is excellent. Watson claim that the design is pretty close to the original Hatfield bar, I don't know whether this is correct, but functionally it's an excellent bar and my favourite specialist bar.

I don't believe I've come across the Watson SSB, but everything Watson I've come across has been high quality, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's very good too.
