Dropping from 5 lifting days to 4. Any negatives?

I am an intermediate and I'd like to switch from Helms' Lower/Upper/Off/Lower/Push/Pull/Off to a variation of Lyle McDonald's Generic Bulking Routine, but as Upper/Lower/Off/Upper/Lower/Off/Off because I like to run a lot and that fifth day of lifting is taking it's toll.

Will I see any negatives from making this switch assuming that my volume, intensity, frequency, progression, and deload structure stays the same? Will not having that extra day hurt me in anyway? I am currently lean bulking with a +250 cal surplus attempting to put on 0.5 lbs. per week.

If total volume is dropping then you may well stagnate. If your previous routine was making you overreach, I would deload before starting the new one.

You may lose some strength gains depends on how strong you are right now. Although if your total training volume is staying the same it may not what was your former routine/ workout program.

If you're feeling run down, an extra day will help you have more energy for workouts on the days you do go to the gym.
