The snow is melting quickly here in The Great White North. Normally this is my favorite time of the year. The temperature is rising and the days are getting longer. But this year things are so uncertain. I'm preparing for the possibility that my city will have a complete lockdown. I'm stocking up on as much food as I can. I ordered $300.00 of parts from Rock Auto so I can work on my cars once the ground is dry behind my garage. I am also gonna do a proper spring cleaning of my house. I'm guessing that there's 1-2,000 lbs of crap that should go to the landfill.
We are living in times that others will study for hundreds of years to come.
Lucky us.

I am qualifying for a lot, and we don't want most workers back soon...we want to stop the spread.
One of my LLCs (not s corpd) I use to section 179 depreciate business assets which I use to lower my personal income on Schedule C. My wife and I AGI falls below the like 150k mark even though our GI is much higher. So we get the $2400. Kid isn't due until June so no $500
SBA is giving a 10k advance on EIDL. I will use that to pay employees who have continued to work for free. That 10k advance and any government money is going into a separate bank account to be fully accounted for, I'm not going to lose an audit over government funds. The 10k advance is going to be forgiven.
Self employed can qualify for unemployment now. The Texas WC is implementing that soon.
Honestly I'm taking this time to build my businesses stronger and the bill is hopefully giving us money to not go under during these 3 months. If the actual SBA loan goes through I'll hire more employees. I don't mind going into debt to cover payroll, but I won't be covering payroll without a loan.
Got this email last night and filed last night. My loan app was submitted March 20th and I filed for unemployment March 20th, but I won't get that until TWC figures out how to handle it.

Yes, that's what the Texas workforce commission told me.
It can be used to offset what you were normally getting. You have to first apply, then talk to them to get it figured out.
In Texas there's also a work share program where I can put employees on part time and have unemployment make up the rest. That's probably what I'll do when the loan comes because a lot of my employees can't do their normal work but I can have them do other computer related tasks, like sales research or marketing campaign creation.
I would assume it's similar in most states. I don't know a lot about unemployment. My strategy has been to lay off, file fast and fix it later.
My sales are down 99% though. I think my main company made $300 last week in sales. We lost $14,000ish just last week in cancellations and there is more this week.Last edited by metroins; 03-31-2020 at 09:28 AM.

Today was my birthday, and considering my entire city is locked down due to Corona-chan, it was surprisingly good. I had to work today, too, but I love my job and coworkers fed me shots all day while we listened to podcasts and music. My wife ended up cooking me dinner and dessert... seems simple to most but it was honestly the best birthday I've had since I was a child.

Things all planned out and easy at work now, just however mode waiting for the recovery.
But dayum at the compensation cut for us lol - after round 3 of cuts did the math this morning - I’m all the way down to what I made in 1998(100k)
Got to be some tight navigating and expense juggling for sure.
Might sale my wife's kidney.
With the unemployment scheme every hourly and store manager doing very well, so that works out great.

Been locked down for a couple of weeks. Managed to get one groceries delivery via online but windows basically chockers 24/7 so I'm going to the supermarket tomorrow morning. Not looking forward to it. Our direct social interaction has been our cleaning lady once a week and a trip to the vet.
I can do 3 months of this easily, so long as we don't get sick. Really hoping Mrs Beer has her job in 3 months time - mine is almost certainly secure in that time frame but she's still on probation so they can let her go whenever they want.
Don't know what the next phase will be though. Active cases in Australia is down from a 5K peak to just over 3K so the measures are working. But I think people will get tired of this pretty quickly.Last edited by Mr Beer; 04-09-2020 at 01:55 PM.

I've asked the cleaning ladies not to come. Same with the gardener. 0 interaction, and i sanitize the chit out of everything delivered to the house.
It's a $300 fine if you leave the house without a permit here. You can apply for one online and get it within minutes, but you need to have a legit reason for it to be accepted. Bit much? I don't know, but we only have 12 deaths so far against a population of 10 mil so I'll take it.
I'm just sitting here grilling chit everyday. Having a blast tbh. Workout in the garden in the morning, grill, watch some TV, wrench on the car and bike, grill again, play some video games.
Pork ribs and bacon burgers tomorrow

Probably should but she's sort of a friend & in a precarious financial position. Plus I don't want to do the cleaning.
TY sir. Also nice artwork, not bad for a mental j/k. We're dropping active cases pretty well in Australia, early days though of course. Easter is going to be a bit of a test but I think people will behave. What happens when we're still doing this come start of June is anyone's guess.

Today I choked out a nun while fighting over the last pack of toilet paper at a local big box store.

I happened upon 4 industrial rolls of TP. I just laugh at TPcels fighting over it in stores.
With my supply I've got at least a year of clean angus to look forward to. I've even been exceptionally liberal with the amount of TP I'm using (even using it for general cleaning duties too) and I still have not made a dent in it.Back off, Warchild.
Seriously.
