I started taking eskrima classes with my son today. Its pretty fun. I dont have a lot of confidence in traditional martial arts to teach real fighting skills but theres something awesome about having a bamboo stick swung at your face and getting into a rhythm with someone.

I feel bad for your son if he gets in a fight and can't find a tree branch to grab

Please.

Soak (fresh, not canned) chickpeas in water. Leave them overnight. Next day, press them with something and drain the water. The chickpeas should be peeled by themselves. Keep pressing if there are any left unpeeled.

Slice the eggplant, and then peel it, but leave one side with skin

Skillet on high heat. Add 2 cups of oil. Drop the eggplan in when its hot. Once they're golden, remove them and drain using paper towels

Get a pot and drop in about half a cup of olive oil. High heat. Saute the diced onions. Add slices of garlic, dried mint, and the chickpeas. Let them sizzle for about half a minute. The add chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, and if you want, some chili powder. Add salt. Cook for 5 mins. Add water and let it boil

Turn down the heat to low, add the eggplant, cover the pot, and fap for about 30 mins while it finishes

I figured I would try a different approach this with set parameters on specific reasons, and required back up with citations to reinforce the insinuation.

I kind of wish I could rejoin the group but I know that I can't and probably shouldn't. I would like to share motivational advice about quitting drinking, losing weight in the drinking thread. Just finding a good path, making a real commitment and sticking to it. I did lose 67 lbs...that's a big difference.

I'm so happy that I finally kicked it. I should have done it 10 years ago...because I'm a man of excess...party animal. I just love it. But we need to grow up. And, when push comes to shove...the sooner the better for real.

I'm actually so glad I'm not in the least involved in politics right now...these guys are nuts!
