I've been playing a lot of cards lately. Last time I played I dropped $300 against some squid who decided to raise me all in pre-flop with AJ against my KK. He was big stack and I knew he was just trying to push me around. He ends up hitting his Ace. The dude was playing like **** and riding hotter than the sun.

I lost my $300 buy-in playing 1/2 NL. was up $150 or so, playing solid, boring cards, not getting much, then decided to have 3 makers on the rocks, got loose and retarded, and lost my stack in the worst way: fukking calling bets. so stupid. really, really looking forward to a sober 2018. sick of being such a dumbass.

I'm in a minority, but I really like it when terrible players run hot. Obviously tilting if you're losing hands against them but generally it's really good for the game.

One, bad play is rewarded = a player who will play bad next time. Two, bad loose play drives action. Three, it makes other players lose their damn minds...it's excellent news if a normally OK player starts spazzing out, they go from someone you make no money against to a mark.

I never drink playing poker at the casino because there's too much money at stake for me to be dumber than I normally am. $50 buy in home games however I get obliterated, and the opposition is so weak as long as I can remember how to play preflop I can't go too far wrong.

I'm not a strong player, what I am is a disciplined nit, which is still effective in weak live games. I rarely make moves but they usually work when I pull them because my table image is ridiculously tight, tighter than I actually am.

Yeah, I never call away chips. I'm always the better/raiser unless someone bets out of position. If I come into a pot, I'm raising 9/10 times. It works most of the time, just have to be careful someone else ins't slow playing a big hand.

I don't slow play, I don't chase, I force the other players to make bad calls or fold their medium hands.

You should have a value range that you x/c though.

vs. unknowns it's good to give them a chance to bluff and you need some nut bluffcatchers instead of just A-high or 3rd pair or whatever.

vs. villains who have gotten to know you, it slows their game down a lot if they know they can run into top pair if they get frisky. Conversely, if you have no check-call range, your range is extremely capped so basically if you don't bet flop they can fire two barrels and watch you fold every time.

I've been planning on taking the whole year off, but since I started drinking again this month, man do I love it. Just not sure if I can drink in moderation, and I don't want to have another year of alcoholism like this year has been. Much easier for me not to drink at all than to drink a few times a week.

the hand I remember most clearly I was the big blind and called 100+ in chips to the guy under the gun, who bet on every street. "no way he has the jack," drunk john(¥)galt kept telling himself. he made a perfect bet of $50 on the river which deep down I knew was a value bet. board was JJ8xx I had A8 he had Jx and I had folded a couple hands to him previously and never got to see them. stupid.

also remember some angry dude was betting strong into a pot, dude in early position just calling. by the river just the 2 of them left. river is a 3rd club, caller checks, better makes a decent bet, dude check raises him all in lol. guy calls while mumbling about how could he call those bets with a flush draw. guy obviously had a flush. "obviously" just like everyone else knew my nemesis had the jack. always easier to judge when you're not in the hand. but this one was pretty fkn obvious. loser had flopped 2nd set.

The "shelters" were either a bathroom or a hallway with no glass or the stairwell.... PAAAAASSSS. You'd think in a place where there are so many fukking tornadoes that they'd have actual shelters. But no. Fuk em all.
