I actually didn't realize how much slack my original j-hooks have. For once I think these x2 j-hooks are better then the original.
Some comparisons

Nothing else needs to be said after this... REPPED!!
Jason...sorry, I've had a rough week with being on the road & feeling sick...haven't had a chance to even try it yet. I will definitely get some pics up for you soon.
Also, the X2 sandwich J-cups are pretty decent as well. If you liked the regular ones you may like these as well for a cheap option

I picked up the 5" holder. I put mine into studs, so only needed the bolts. I was just happy to see that the lag bolts fit the holes and the holes were actually drilled at standard stud spacing.
I'll echo that the powder coat actually looks pretty nice, nothing was dinged up, and it holds all of my belts and straps. No ragrets.

Finally had a chance to try the X2 dip attachment I purchased.
Overall I'm pleased with it. Handles extend thru the frame & are welded on both sides. Paint looks nice & is a bit glossier than the rack itself. The main box portion has UMHW & screws are countersunk. Gusset is fully welded.
One thing I don't like is the side-to-side movement.
With that said, it seems like it is inherent to this design...?
Brandon Cambell's review of the monster lite Matador shows the same: https://youtu.be/rdqReLCMrTY?t=128
I have not done dips in months, heck...maybe even a year, so my form/control was not very good. As you can see in the first few reps, I'm shaking & the side-to-side movement of the attachment is not good (also, my rack is not bolted to the floor atm). I'm about 225 lbs for reference.
Second set of reps I did with more control & the handle did not move at all. Last set I threw a couple shims in the attachment & it didnt move at all.
Overall this will work just fine, but I think I'm gonna grab some thin pieces of stick-on uhmw & eliminate the gaps. I don't know if it's really necessary, but I think once I strap some weight on & am struggling with some harder reps, I won't want that shaking.

Yes, my rogue monster matador has a little wiggle (not that much, but some)..... but once I mount, it's sturdy as a rock. The video looks like your rack is shaking more than your attachment, that's something I don't have at all, I'm 215 and add some weight for dips too. But my rack is also rock solid 7 gauge, with weight on the storage pegs.

Holy ****! That is scary!
Maybe I will go ahead and get some of those sandwich j cups, they look stronger..
What baffles me is that some people seem are defending the J cup on the reddit thread, and some people seem to think it broke at a weld for some reason. It broke at the bend.
I really hope Titan takes this seriously and follows up. I think a recall is in order for affected batches.Last edited by DVG93; 01-22-2018 at 11:05 AM.

Im just saying it *looks stronger*
It has a higher rated capacity, but I dont know their rated numbers mean anything.
The sandwich j cup looks stronger to me because it doesnt incorporate the bend in the standard j cup. I dont have faith in their metal bending process after seeing this.
The sandwich j cup is made with two pieces of flat sheet metal, with a big chunk of plastic held in place with bolts between the two pieces.

not defending the person but if you or anyone hasnt read the post... the person then proceeded to squat in a safer rack at higher weight sets and reps, despite having his shoulder "almost torn off the bone"
figured i'd at least give another perspective instead of just a lopsided one. so SH will have to chime in on this one...100% 中國人

It's funny. I just read the page and your quoted comment up top thinking how balanced and good it was. Then I saw this J Cup and had a holy **** moment. I then thought back and said...kind of nukes that thejosef's point...then I read this. Stream of consciousness but we were on exactly the same page.
That is fricking ridiculous. OMG. I figured at least their racks were okay just don't order anything flukey like a 45 hyper. No...wrong.▪█─────█▪ Rogue Barbell Crew #27 ▪█─────█▪

Haven't been able to "rep" many of you for a year or more...not for lack of trying.

Well, looks like I'll be using those j-hooks to hold bands. Always use safeties...

Exactly!! Seeing that broken J-Hook definitely shook my trust in their products. Sure they look beefy & strong, but if the steel is not good then what's the point?
I will be emailing Titan about the J-Hook failure. I don't think I'll ever be moving those kind of weights, but if it broke at 385 lb today, maybe it might break at 250 lb if the bar was racked forcefully.
Do you still trust the Titan safeties? If the steel is bad, even the safeties can break.Last edited by arkaa; 01-22-2018 at 12:35 PM.
