    Am I lactose intolerant now?

I notice that I have gas, smelly gas, if I drink whey concentrate or isolate. If I drink too many shakes, the gas gives me an unpleasant bloated feeling, and I fart all day.

I used to drink 2 gallons of milk a day as a kid. Now I drink about a half to full gallon every half week. I don't notice this from milk, although it can upset my stomach slightly if it's not super fresh. I'm thinking I might be slightly lactose intolerant because of the way the protein powders affect me. I knew I should have kept up the 2 gallons a day. Now my body has evolved to be lactose intolerant

I don't think it made you lactose intolerant, but whey is pretty notorious for giving you the protein farts/chits.

I think it's quite common for people to become LI later in life. I was in the same boat. As a child drank 5 gallons minimum a week. Now if I drank a glass it'd destroy me. Haven't drank milk in probably 3 years now

Consider it a blessing. Milk is terrible for you anyways. Unless you're a baby cow of course.

If you were lactose, you would have your own Ferrari team in your ass after 20 min of ingesting lactose (with pain). What you have is whey farts. You cant be slightly lactose intolerant; either you get the diarrhea or not.

That's not true at all. It greatly depends on how much lactase your small intestine can produce. Some people are much worse off than others.

Yeah I guess this is what I was curious about, is if whey can disagree with people that are not lactose intolerant. Maybe I need to amp up the milk drinking and have an experiment I'm pretty sure if I drink a bunch of milk, it would disagree with me slightly too though.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Hey Ameyer, why do you say milk is horrible for you? I do kind of regret as a kid, I was drinking cheap hormone loaded milk. Now I drink local dairy farm whole milk. I can see how the bad fats could be hard on the heart. Other than that though, I don't get what could be so bad about it. It tastes like pure heaven.

It's a liquid specifically made by a cow to turn a calf into a one ton animal. So... we drink it....? Makes sense I guess....

Never heard anyone been diagnosed of lactose intolerance of just gas, for me (15 years ago) it was drink milk or anything with dairy products. 20 min later i had to sit on the toilet with stomach ache and horrible diarrhea. Only gas not a chance its lactose intolerance. Even at low dosage of lactose you get aches.

Milk is not bad for you nor the heart (in moderation, not like RICKY BRUCH who drank 5l a day 1.3 gallons a day). Can you eat other dairy products without upset stomach?

Lol, I'll just leave this one before feels are hurt.

OP, try out unsweetened vanilla almond milk with your protein shake and see if it helps.

    Have you tried lactaid pills?

Nope, I've just only had this issue with whey protein shakes, and haven't had the urge to drink a bunch of milk or protein shakes. I just cut the protein shakes down to about one every 2 days, and they don't bother me hardly at all. I just thought that the only reason the protein shakes could make me so gassy, is lactose intolerance. I was just hoping to get to the bottom of it. I might pick up some lactaid pills, and drink a bunch of protein shakes. That's another way to experiment I guess lol.

Yeah I can pretty much eat all the dairy products I want. I remember I ate cereal for like half the meals of one day (short on time), and it made my stomach kind of upset. I should probably try this drinking a bunch of milk experiment and see if it messes with me.

So, someone comes on here looking to sell breast milk because they have an abundance. We all laugh and think how stupid that is.

Then most of you go drink tit milk from a cow. Makes a lot of sense doesn't it

I do it for the taste. Almond milk and coconut milk taste like balls and make shakes taste ****ty. It's the same as bacon. I don't drink milk for any health benefits other then taste same as I don't eat bacon for health aspect. Just tastes damn good.
