    Just WEIGHTS, No CARDIO

I'm currently on a diet. The thing is I hate cardio banging away at a treadmill is not my idea of fun.

However lifting weights I can deal with.

Can I get away with just lifting weights? and a calorie deficit?

Please and thank you ladies x

No one likes cardio. The stair master is my favorite. I rarely do the treadmill. Try different machines, they might help you get cardio done. It really does help..... but no you do not need it.

Weights and no cardio is fine, the reverse is not.

For me, I hate cardio at the gym, if I'm going to do conditioning work I do it outside. Even horrible weather is better than monotony.

You can certainly lose weight without cardio, as long as you are at a caloric deficit. Thing is cardio isn't just for losing weight, it's also for cardiovascular health, which is always a good thing.
You can try different forms of cardio and see which is less sucky: is outdoors more fun than in the gym? Are classes more fun than the treadmill? Can you watch TV or read while you do cardio, to make time go faster? How about circuits of calisthenics, or punching the bag? How about dancing?

    I hope it helps!

    This.

Yes, you can reach your goals without cardio, specially if you up the pace of your workouts and do something turbulence-, stoppani-, crossfit- or gironda- style, or just make sure your rest periods don't go over 30-60s.

But cardio doesn't have to be boring. One awesome thing about cardio is that it can be made a social event if you're the social type - you can go for a group jog, bike ride, skating or quick walk with your buddies. You can join a class which allows you to pursue an athletic, artistic or spiritual interest (martial arts, boxing, dancing, parkour, performance arts, yoga, tai chi) or an outdoor club and pursue mountaineering, mtb-ing or cycling and a number of other awesome outdoor activities. Or, if you're a meditative/introvert type or just can't afford to hang out with people on a fixed schedule, you can run, bike, hike or walk in the outdoors or the indoors while using music, audio books or tv to entertain but also broaden your mind.

One AWESOME thing about cardio is that it makes your blood flow at a steady, but quickened pace for a prolonged period of time. This brings LOADS of oxygen and nutritives into your muscles in the process and promotes and boosts muscle recovery. And if taken outdoors, cardio has the extra benefit of challenging and boosting your immune system, making colds and snivels the thing of the past.
