2 Week PSMF Results, 155-126 pounds

Decided to do a fast 2 week PSMF since I was feeling a bit on the fluffy side; busy with work, missed some sessions, other excuses….

So Went from my bulking calories of 4200-4500 (very high TDEE), down to ~1000; macros were minimal fat ~20g per day, 150g protein, 55g total carbs with almost all coming from veggies. Really sucked, pretty extreme, but I like to be in a deficit as little time as possible and seeing changes literally daily was nice.

Ate mostly Egg Beaters, jerky, shiritaki noodles, veggies and protein shakes for 14 days. Lowered intensity and did full body 3x per week with a lot of LISS.

Less mass than I thought I had, also depleted of carbs/glycogen since I didn’t bother with any refeed. Abs suck from not being able to train them for almost a year due to a hernia, but ready to go back into a surplus now.

    Before- ~155 pounds

    After- 126 pounds

INB4 Zombie Mode. Going to bulk again for the next year or so is the plan. Just wanted to do this before to get in a bit better of a spot to do so.
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
    1/13/16: Massive hernia.
5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.

Good job. Are you able to tell anything about muscle loss. Based on the two pictures presented here it doesn't seem that you lost any. What is your calculated/estimated bf now?

"seems" being the key word. Its perfectly fine for the short periods the diet was designed for.

It's ok, I've done it many times with no issues

As long as it's done short periods and you're spot on with getting/supplementing sufficient electrolytes, and of course protein, which he did

This site is quirky.. I suggest this type of diet (RFL by L. McDonald) to a guy last week and the mods come in and shut the thread down because 'we don't talk about extreme dieting here' and this thread pops up and people are congratulating him on his progress. Strange place, this is.

    From the thread you mentioned:

I've been eating somewhere between 800-1200 calories a day for months now.
In case you can't figure out the not insignificant difference between the lousy advice you were offering and the OP, I've bolded it for you.

Your not alone but I'm trying to not be as much of a dick as I used to be so I'm staying out of this thread........ damn

Oh well while I'm here, for someone with your post count and time on these forums you don't seem to have had any "bodybuilding" results and don't look particularly healthy. Well done on losing weight but I really have to question your mindset on cutting

No muscle mass or strength loss, though endurance took a hard hit in the second week, low calories and little sleep kind of accumulated by then.

Not arguing that, but ah well, preferred to drop a bit of fat before getting back into more lifting; work had caused me to have to set it aside a bit more than I'd liked.

OK, so the next time someone creates an account on here and wants to lose 30 pounds for a wedding, vacation, date, whatever, in two weeks, linking them to this thread and encouraging them to "go for it" will be met with universal support. Gotcha...

Depends, I did not lose 30 pounds of fat, so not likely to help most in that scenario.

And good job in taking one line out if my post. I said that I, MYSELF, had been eating a huge deficit for months and suggested he went and looked up the diet which explains how to properly cut in the same exact manner the OP did in this thread.

You at 155 looks like the perfect starting point for a bulk. But each to their own!

As I recall, your endocrine system is properly buggered from foolish diet practice as a teen - why the hell would you cut so aggressively again? "common sense/moderation..."

You have always dispensed very solid nutrition advise - this is an unfortunate deviation from that. Even at 155 you were skeletal, a 2 week crash cut suits competitors just before a competition, their reasons for doing so are clear - they are being judged in a competition and as such go to the extremes that many athletes go to in order to excel - those extremes are seldom healthy, and in this case completely unnecessary.

While it is a clear feat of willpower - I think it was a futile exercise that has set you back in the long run.

I find when I do decide to cut, the shorter time in deficit the better IMO; PSMF is extreme, but the duration is short enough that if you do it properly it works.

This is a greatly underrated point with PSMF, With PSMF i can reduce a normal 6 week cut into a couple of weeks, 2 weeks of PSMF is not enough time to loose much if any noticeable muscle or strength but it leaves you with a further number of weeks to get back into a gaining phase. Its hard mentally but in the long run i think its a far superior way of cutting fat.

The only people who have issues with these kind of diets are the ones who do it longer than recommended, After 2 weeks you should take a break before doing another cycle, something some people don't do.

I am going to go ahead and say that I am very surprised you have been on these forums for 6 years and you still look like that (considering you actually lift).
I don't mean to offend you as you seem to be very knowledgeable in regards to nutrition in general.
But I don't see you following your own advice at all. Have seen you in so many threads giving advice to guys to bulk up because they are too 'skinny' etc. When you, yourself, look like that. I mean...you are in the 120s and the most I've seen your stats you were around 150 lbs. And you don't look like you have ever lifted a weight in your life ( again, no offence ). I am just trying to understand why are you not following your own advice in regards to nutrition, bulking, cutting, training etc. At least, you don't seem to be.

I will probably get negged for this post, but so be it. Just wanted to express my own opinion.

Mainly due to some past medical issues, but also lifting is a means to an end for me, it keeps me fit; while I would like to be bigger (working on that now) I always put life and my job ahead of lifting. Priorities sometimes mean taking a month or even longer off just because there are other things I choose to focus on.

Fair enough, man. I was just stating that given your knowledge, you could have (and still can) made more off of it.

    Cheers for replying anyways

Oh no doubt at all, which is why I try and advise others when I can; I have made many mistakes, so I try to help others learn from them and avoid the same pitfalls I have made.

One was this- trying too hard to keep lean when 'bulking' fat gain is something I have always had issues with since being obese as a teen, but for this bulk I am just going for more weight gain than I really ever have (closer to 1 pound per week). This PSMF was to get me right in a position to do this, and show how fast weight (fat) loss can be, so adding extra fat is not really (always) bad to do when you need mass.

We shall see in a couple months how it turns out I suppose.

I can see the logic behind this especially if you were overweight as a kid. best of luck with the bulk, put on a good size

I'm with these guys, dude. Even taking a month off, you shouldn't look like that even after two weeks of a PSMF if your training has been in check for as long as you've been on these forums.

Good luck with your future bulk goals, I guess, but this strikes me as a pretty extreme, if not disordered, starting point.
