Can anyone suggest some decent entry level road wheels?
just finishing up my Specialized allez sprint build and I need a set of wheels around 300-400ish
I eventually plan to get some zipp or other nice carbon wheels but for now I just want some decent wheels so I can start riding.
The wheels I was looking at where SHIMANO WH-RS500, MAVIC OPEN PRO CD with SHIMANO ULTEGRA 6800 HUBS or ebay superteam carbon wheels both are about $300. Anyone one have any experience with superteam wheels? they seem to have mostly positive reviews, but Im a bit wary of buying ebay chinese carbon wheels.Last edited by scoops555; 07-20-2018 at 08:10 PM.

i read about some new shimano R7000 shifters coming in market soon...if i hold on to road bike purchase for few more months, can i expect to start seeing full hydraulics on 105 groupset bikes under $2000?
i will definitely have buyers remorse if i get mechanical disc bike now and second half of this year they (Giant or trek or cannondale) announced hydraulic brakes on endurance bikes.F*ck Joe Biden

Kinda funny you say that. In all his years of riding he's never had an issue and the first ride on his first geared bike he blows a tube. I think it made him feel like he finally made it.
I ordered a few tubes, sure it was a one off issue. Didn't realize I had chit tier patches, got the park tool patch kit and it worked the first try. Will swap out to new tube just because hole is in a bad spot.
He's road / velodrome / XC he's still working on clipping in, I think the dropper is a while away.

Fuark. Been having the most fun ive had on a bike since i was in highschool. Up at 8,000 feet yesterday sessioning hard. Repeated a skinny roll about 5 times before committing to it and riding the full length of the fallen tree. Bailed hard on my 2nd try which oddly built confidence.
Cleared a wide sloping 90 degree right turn while holding a manual. Now i just need to learn how to balance slow-speed manuals for on the trail. Muscle memory has me crushing unlimited distance (straight line) with no warm up now.
Rear deraileur wasnt catching my granny gear. I could shift smoothly through 10 of the gears, but the 11th one wouldnt catch. I just rode it that way yesterday and today discovered that the entire deraileur attachment was loose where it bolts to the frame. Easy fix lol.
I think ill head up to the mountains again wednesday. Ordered a tent so i can squeeze a camp night between 2 riding days. Not giving AF about rain, or the fact its 114 degrees here lol.
Das it mane. Daassss it.Spoiler alert; you die at the end.

When I ride chair lifts I chaff like crazy. Doesn’t matter what shirt combo I have on.
I use bandaids on the nipples lol.
Tubeless>dropper
If you ride mtb and aren’t tubeless you’re doing it wrong.
Went on a 10 day whistler trip with a bunch of goons. It was like a 16/1 ratio. 16 tube flats for every 1 tubeless blow out.
Even if you get a blowout on tubeless you just throw in a back up tube and leave. No patch kits needed. The tech is 1000% better then 5-10 years ago. I run tubeless with Gorrilla Tape and stans nothing fancy.
I’ve had 1 flat in 3 years on all my bikes.Dodgers!

Guise, really looking to get into this. Haven't had a bike in years but I don't want to break the bank. Any suggestions on a good starter bike? I think i'd rather have more of a road bike over a MB

Mountain biking you will get a mix of opinions. It seems with roadies they almost universally like it which makes sense because there shouldn't be many if any situations you gotta bail off your bike on the road. I think you road ride so if I was doing that I would probably go click in so your feet never accidentally come off the pedals and all you are doing is pushing down without worrying about your feet moving. I think the other benefit is the foot on the bottom pedal can sort of pull up too no?

i did 4.5 hour ride using strava on my iphone 6s...battery was around 40% at the end of ride. I turned on screen in between to check ride distance & take some photos, also kept a small portable charger in saddle bag as a backup.
i do plan to get a dedicated gps bike computer system eventually and just sync the rides to strava.
you should try it..get a phone mount so theres clear gps signal...in pockets, the gps data tends to be less accurate.Last edited by Nocturnal310; 07-24-2018 at 08:16 AM.
