just did my first 100km group ride/race. Overall went extremely well
However... lol, a couple people got super rustled that I couldn't keep pace and kept pulling away. So rustled that they posted about it on strava lmao. I found it extremely hard to actually keep the same pace because of crazy headwinds we were getting. So I didn't know how many watts to push out front vs if I wasn't out front. Anywho I feel i wasn't that bad, the other people in my group were just slower I guess and couldn't hold my wheel on flats which kinda sucked as I then ended up coasting basically doing 200 watts for the majority of the ride. That being said it was all still incredibly fun and I'm extremely thankful and happy I had a group to ride with.
I am actually very very surprised. TrainerRoad is like magic. I had zero problems with this ride and it felt easy for the most part, wasn't huffing and puffing at any point aside from when I had to pee then catch up. Overall A+ for trainerroad given that I only started riding mid october.
^^^ gjdm that's some serious distance. Also merlin that beer stop off.
Given it looks like you guys get a fair bit of snow, do you find that your roads are absolutely peppered with road salt debris? my god it's brutal here. the roads are literally like gravel roads in some places because of all the salt and gravel they put on the roads to help with traction in the snow for cars.Last edited by Num3n; 04-09-2017 at 05:14 PM.

We need a new ideology with the core values of reason, honesty, science and secular progress over the older traditions of religion, superstition and dogmatic faith that have long defined humanity. We will never be free to progress and advance until the last stone from the last church is cast down onto the last priest. And every equivalent.

Are your gears indexed properly?
Nothing fancy, very much a novelty for me though (and the difference between getting a coffee occasionally on the way to work or waiting till lunch)
Edit: I've been looking @ Strava this evening, might have to have a crack and record some of my slow, short rides (aint nobody need to see that). Are people lurking in here like a motherfukker or do we actually have 70 posters like the strava group suggests?Last edited by DatPass; 04-10-2017 at 05:59 AM.

I enjoy trying to liven this place up with a bit of dumb humour.
So I give indexing a go.
My inside lever on the right for the rear cassette pinged really far over when i tried to go up a gear about 5 miles into my ride.
Seems ok but was strange. Plus now when i go to a lower gear it is like the chain has doubled in size. Lol. I like messing with stuff i have no clue about.Ride it like you just stole it.

Was totally able to ride. But seems that it needs a bit of concentration to get it right. I understand the + & - screws adjust the chain from falling off the cassette.
Also lining up the gear i am in with the 8 shaped bit at the back with the other screw.
Now I just need to get my gears perfect with the adjuster.
I swear on me mam. You guys have seriously made me quite at ease with these minor fixes.
May even strip the bike at the end of autumn. Full service.
If i could buy you guys a beer. I wood.Ride it like you just stole it.

With the advent of YouTube, a lot of stuff is easily explainable, demonstrable, and fixable. The stuff that would nickel and dime you to death at LBS can be done fairly hassle free at home. If nothing else, it makes you more in tune and connected to whatever you're riding around on.
This doesn't mean you shouldn't try to build a relationship with your local shop and especially the mechanic. You'd be surprised what they will be willing to tinker with for you while you wait, and for very little or free. So 10000000% learn the way your bike works and how to fix it yourself. But greasing the wheels at the LBS never hurts either.
So now after about 80 miles of varied terrain on my new setup, I can say I am officially in love. I really debated when my buddy wanted to head off the roads we were on and shred some dirt and gravel, but my Enve's and slick tires handled it mostly fine (Just losing traction and spinning the rear wheel under uphill acceleration). Although the "upgrade" was well more $$$ wise than a nice new complete carbon bike, I am head over heels for this Ti beauty.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't know about you guys but I just straight up bonk out if I haven't eaten close to a long ride. Fasted training sounds like my idea of hell. Although I mostly train fasted at the gym. Weird.
Riding after work today, hopefully get about 30 miles in but I'll plan my route later.S/B/D 195kg / 125kg / 237.5kg

It feels like it in the beginning, but I assure you it's all mental.
You're body's going to tell you it's starving but in reality far from it -- that actually takes weeks. After you've surmounted that hunger pang hurdle, things will become significantly easier.
Once you transition to burning fat as fuel, you can ride to the limit of your pain threshold time in the saddle.🎥

I think fasted is not the way to go... if I remember right there are some research that shows that a bit of carbs early morning is better for losing fat.
my typical is OJ before I ride or a run.
