Never posted in this thread before but I figured why not. Just a general supplement question that I'm hoping someone can answer. What do you guys do when you fly with supps? Wife and I are heading to Maine saturday morning via Southwest Airlines. All I really would like to bring is my pre and creatine. I have a few protein samples so those should be good to go. I don't really need to being the whole containers but I wouldn't sure if I would be questioned if I put the creatine and pre in small tupperwares or baggies. Any ideas? Thanks fellas!

Love this encouragement. Do you have a site that iSatori wouldn't mind you posting... just once?

I do baggies, roll them up and stack in my blender bottle. It can go on carryon, unless TSA wants to be jerky. but according to the TSA site, it's not banned. I also buy single serve proteins sometimes which can be loose in your luggage. If you favorite pre comes in single serves, you might want to spend the extra $$ to get a few. Then TSA has no doubt. Have a great trip!

That is a great idea and that is what I will do. Appreciate it! I didn't think far enough ahead of time to pick up any samples or I probably would have just grabbed a lot of them off ebay or something. I do have some protein samples of the new BB protein I got with my last order. I will just measure out enough servings of each of the other stuff and put them in baggies in a shaker along with a scoop of some sort. Thanks again.

I have snack size bags and pre portion my stuff one serving, one workout per bag. then I don't have to scoop on the road. Just bring a couple extra portions -- in case. As I use them I can dispose of the bags or flatten and keep for the next trip. If something happens to one bag, my whole stash isn't ruined.

I stumbled upon a new technique during my light chest, shoulders , tris workout. On a hammer strength plate loaded shoulder press I went halfway up, paused for a two count, and then continued up to complete. Brutal. Also did this with triceps cable pressdowns. Going to try this out on legs tomorrow. Possibly on leg presses but definitely on extensions and curls.

I hear ya there man. We are visiting my wife's best friend. They have all sorts of stuff planned, so I will likely have enough free time to get a few lifts in. There is a gym about a mile from their house.

That sounds pretty brutal! I am running the PHAT program by Layne Norton. I might give that a go on the hypertrophy days.

You're always doing those brutal pauses. First, top; then, bottom; and now this?

I did the pauses my last chest workout, and achieved an incredible amount of soreness from the same exercises I was doing all along. I am always looking for a challenge!

Glad you guys enjoy. As long as I'm not boring everyone, I will continue to throw this stuff out there. Even though I have been bodybuilding for over 20 years, my training is always evolving. Plus I tend to get bored.

Pausing halfway through the rep and then continuing the rep is BRUTAL for legs. I also added a 2 second hold at fully contracted position. Did this on lying leg curls, leg extensions and machine leg presses (last leg exercise of day). On the leg presses I put my feet together at very bottom with heels actually off the platform. This puts emphasis entirely on quads. Go super slow and don't bounce at all to protect knees.

I’ve been super setting wide leg presses with close stance leg presses with lying leg curls (also wide and close). I do 10 reps for each one (20 per exercise)

It was indeed brutal. I am still sore today. But it's a good thing It seems like it has been a while since I was this sore, and it tells me I needed the challenge. The hardest pauses were on my working sets of leg extensions.

Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it. Try it out on other movements too. Seated cable rows for back. Cable curls for bis.

Will do. I was doing the pause at full contraction, but pausing halfway is a real challenge.

Awesome! Another good one is come all the way down, pause, up halfway and pause, back down and pause, and then all the way up. I call them "1 1/2's". This works well on presses, leg presses, Smith squats, pulldowns, curls......A ton more.

yeah - those one-and-a-halfs - ugh. go lighter you must. So freaking out of breath you will be.

Question: I asked my friend, Simon Morgan, about what I could do to grow my legsticks; told him I have a half rack, but no leg press or other machinery. He stated that was just as well. He doesn't do leg press and said that all his friends who do now have hip issues. Before I go spend up to $2k, are there machines that inherently ruin your body? I'm trying to justify it by not ego-lifting 1000 lbs; thinking that people who do get into trouble are ignoring safety, going to heavy, etc. I would love to work my legs without endangering my lower back and, of course, my hip sockets.

(His advice was pyramid sets of squats - still good - 15,12,10,8 and back up)

No disrespect to your friend but......I couldn't disagree with him more. Like any other exercise if you use poor form you can get injured. In fact, lots of guys....Dorian Yates and John Meadows come to mind....stopped stopped squatting and rely on presses more to alleviate stress on hips and back caused by squatting.

You may be familiar with him. My rational was that they went with poor form, overloaded with an ego # of plates, etc. This is good to know. One reason I'm excited about that piece of equipment, and getting one with multiple angles to work is because of something you've said several times.
[paraphrasing] - If my focus is to work a particular muscle, why would I want to be limited by something else. (like using straps for deadlifts).
For me, I think my legs can be stronger than what my lower back would allow and it freaks me out to go too heavy on squats. PLUS - with varied stances and angles I can work all around the leg even better
