Is It Worth Travelling For International Meets?

I've been offered a spot to compete in the commonwealth games in South Africa later this year but it's a lot of money, £500/$600, for flights alone. I would also need a week or to out of studies and would have to travel 11+ hours alone

Just want other thoughts on this, I would go in a heart beat if it was closer to home but because it's so far I'm having second thoughts

    Thanks

I mean it's entirely up to you. If you really want to go, then go. If it's too expensive/you won't be able to miss that much school, then don't.

Its a tough question because we don't have the same info as you. If you can make up the missed classes, and get the money for the trip, then I'm assuming you would go?

Do it bruh. Assuming your age is correct, then its quite likely you will not get another chance at this

As the skill level goes up considerably from sub jnr to jnr, and even harder once you hit open

I heard that there's a lot of relations going on between athletes so it might be worth it.

But seriously, will this make you money? No. So you have to judge for yourself whether it has any other kind of value to you.

Yes age is correct and was thinking the same about the sub jr-jr jump but it'll be hard for me to come up with the funds and travelling alone for the first time for so long as well. But as you said it's a great opportunity

Aha I see i thought you were Olympic lifting at the actual commonwealth games lol. Idk I'm not interested myself in travelling to Europeans and worlds - I can just about drag myself to the nationals. Only you can really answer this bro but well done nice problems to have.
