both knees were 100% legal. Weidman wasnt defending himself, he was completely rocked, and was trying to get Mousasi DQed so he wouldnt have to continue. if the ref didnt step in and let it go that fight would have been over within 10-20 seconds with Chris being KOed. Only once they told him both knees were legal did he argue that he wanted to continue, at the presser he confirmed as much that he basically thought he won by DQ, which means he was going to say he was unable to continue, which is why the Dr.s ringside took it out of his hands and declared him unable to continue when they were asked.
He was still rocked when they called the fight. Its a shame it went down that way rather than being a clean win, because frankly Mousasi deserves an unblemished win.For every man, there is a sentence, a string of words, that has the power to destroy him

There definitely is a case for getting the decision overturned. Video replays are not allowed in New York. The ref's call is all that matters. He called an illegal knee and the doctor stopped the fight. It's a DQ win for Weidman or a NC. It was a massive fuk up by everyone involved. The fight simply should have continued.
I'm also not convinced the second knee was legal, you'd have to look at it frame by frame so it's impossible for a tard like Dan Mirgliotta to see it in real time. To me it looked like his hand came up like a millisecond after Mousasi's knee touched his face. Mousasi didn't pull Weidman up and then knee him like Rogan was spurting everywhere. That just didn't happen.

That post fight presser by DC was top notch. Frankly I am disappointed with myself for betting against him when I think back on it, sure Rumble was dangerous and on a roll, but DC truly does have that special will to win and no matter how dangerous a guy is across from him, his resume and accomplishments in the fight game are hard to deny. I totally agree with what he said about PFP rankings- he would squash little guys like conor or DJ like grapes and has beat everyone he fought at HW and everyone but 1 guy at LHW... hes truly does deserve being considered one of if not the best pound for pound guy out there.
I hope Jones does comeback and they set up the immediate rematch with DC, because DC does deserve to answer that question on his own terms, can he beat Jon Jones. But even if DC retired today, Id have to place him up there as possible GOAT, and if he beats Jones before he retires, it almost for sure wins him that crown.
I dont get why guys hate on DC, sure he can be corny, but overall hes a pretty honest guy and aside from being in a camp notorious for wrecking cards, he personally has only done it one time (or was it two?) but thats the only strike against the guy, hes otherwise pretty likeable imo.
He scored some points with me tonight, I wont be so quick to doubt him again- even vs Jones. For every man, there is a sentence, a string of words, that has the power to destroy him

These excerpts from Johnson’s corner tell the tale. Apparently, the fighter’s retirement plans weren’t the only surprise of the night.
Round 1
Voice: Take your time. Nice. Take your time. Don’t take him down.
Hooft: Don’t wrestle him.
Voice: If you’re going to go, go single.
Hooft: You don’t have to wrestle him, AJ. Just relax.
Voice: Don’t wrestle him.
Hooft: Get out of there. Get out of there.
Grappling coach Neil Melanson: OK, stud. Now, let’s get your hands hot.
Voice: Why is he wrestling him?
Hooft: This is stupid.
Voice: Why is he wrestling him?
Hooft: (Expletive) it, man. Just get off the cage.
Voice: Get out of there.
Voice: Why isn’t he listening?
(Johnson and Cormier are broken up by referee John McCarthy, and Johnson lands kicks.)
Voice: He’s tired already, DC. He doesn’t need to do this.
Voice: Why isn’t he listening?
Hooft: I don’t know why he’s doing that. We have no (expletive) eyes.
Break between Round 1 and Round 2
Hooft: Can you tell me why you’re wrestling? Now, you’re not going to wrestle. You take your distance. Stay away, two steps away. Why are you so worried about everything? The kicks and the knees are really good, but no kicks. Where’s your hands?
Voice: You’re doing great. Don’t (expletive) wrestle him.
Hooft: If you stand your distance, it’s an easy game. Why make it difficult?
Round 2
Hooft: Movement. Athletic. Movement. That’s it. Take your distance.
(Johnson reverses against the cage and goes for another takedown)
Hooft: You need distance.
Hooft: I’m not saying nothing.
(Cormier has Johnson on the mat and is setting up a choke)
Hooft: It’s going the same as last time.
(Johnson submits to Cormier via rear-naked choke)
Hooft: Why, why the (expletive) does this happen every (expletive) time, man? Crazy.
LOL. Yeah sounds like AJ went completely off page and was in full panic retard mode. Like I said, if he was following the gameplan he should fire everyone involved, but I guess he did the right thing after the fight and fired the guy who really fukked up- himself. For every man, there is a sentence, a string of words, that has the power to destroy him

We don't know how it would have turned out if it continued. You can't fault a fighter for hoping dor a dq when he is hurt from what he (and the referee) thinks is an illegal knee or at the very least he wants to take as much time as possible to recover.
I think the more correct sequence in all of this should have been: the ref stops the fight because he thinks an illegal strike is thrown. doctors say weidman can't continue = win for weidman. after review the knees are legal = no contest

And the most correct sequence would have been: Mirigliotta does not step in after Weidman tries to game the rules by putting his palms down but is unsuccessful and eats two knees which hurt him badly, weidman then takes whatever further punishment he deserves as the fight continues in a completely organic fashion, which 95% likely results in him being KTFO within 10-20 seconds as he is badly hurt from the completely legal strikes he just took and Mousasi has his kill mode engaged.
This was completely Mirigliottas fault for stepping in and stopping a fight that was progressing properly. Theres no way Mousasi should be penalized with a NC, he did nothing wrong. These are professional fighters, not soccer players, flopping to win simply should not be allowable in any case here. For every man, there is a sentence, a string of words, that has the power to destroy him

I agree it's the ref's fault. 95% chance mousasi finishes him is pure conjecture. weidman was landing almost every takedown attempt so he could have taken down or clinched him again and regained his composure. we've seen fighters get rocked and survive. for instance gsp getting head kicked by condit, getting dropped on his ass, recovering and dominating the fight. if the ref would have stepped in then saying the head kick was illegal and gsp immediately got doctors in his face, they might have also said gsp was unable to continue

Yep. Weidman said he couldn't continue.
from the reddit thread:
this will probably get lost in comments, but i'm cage side. when he thought the knee was illegal, he claimed he couldn't continue to try and get the victory. when ref informed him it was legal, he started saying he was fine. however, iut would be irresonsible for doctors to not take him at his initial word. totally chris' faultfor trying to cheat and get an easy win. serra and longo were even yelling from cage side "stay down, it was illegal"A hit was sent, from the President, to raid your residence /
