Thinking about selling my FT3 1080Ti and picking up a RTX 2080ti. I'd get the eVGA FTW3 2080ti, but I hate how it takes 3 spaces and not 2. Plus, I can sell my 1080ti for almost what I bought it at, at $650

You can get a hybrid version of the FTW3 that takes 2 slots.

Yeah the price hike isn't even remotely justified, but since AMD seems to refuse to launch anything resembling a competing product (the closest thing being the Radeon VII which is just as expensive as an RTX 2080, slower, and can't do DLSS or Ray Tracing), they have no reason to lower their prices.

Wondering if any of you brahs know what is wrong with my desktop.
My computer has been sitting for about a month as it wasn't powering on properly. It would boot, but after 5-10 seconds it would turn off and start a loop (on and off). I thought it would have been the power supply, so I changed that out today. My computer now boots, but it doesn't run properly for long.
The disk usage goes up to 100% and the whole computer slows down to a crawl.

My specs:
Windows 10
Intel i7 4790k CPU @ 4.00
GeForce gtx 970 4TB Twin Frozr
Gskill 8GB DDR3 @ 1600
Samsung 840 EVO SSD
1TB WD Blue HDD
Thanks in advance.. Really hoping it is just an easy fix.
Edit - prior to the picture, the resource monitor had "system" at over 12 mil B/sec*LoggedInWizard Crew*

Update - I removed one of the ram sticks and am able to log in. It's going through periods of 100% disk usage where I can't do anything, to being normal for a minute or so.
Edit - Crystaldiskinfo says the ssd is 100% good... I'm thinking it might be the motherboard. The ram trick was just temporary. It booted than froze on and off until it completely locked me out. Went to reboot and again no input to monitor/usbs. If unplug the desktop and move the ram stick, it repeats the same thing.Last edited by RemedySC; 03-26-2019 at 09:33 AM.

The division 2 is wrecking my PC. 8gb RAM really doesn't cut it much nowadays. Even the Witcher 3 ran perfectly fine but TD2 is hogging my RAM. Time to upgrade to 16 but also get a second gaming pc for my gaming room setup.

Some really juicy specs for $1399, albeit the meh-motherboard.

This was for $1080 the other day and it's more processor/gpu than I could ever need on a 1080p either way. decisions, decisions. What's the deal with pre-builts getting ridiculously cheap nowadays?
Even with wholesale prices, blows my mind certain Pcs go on sale already assembled much cheaper than picking your own parts + windows/peripheralsLast edited by Xinroth; 04-01-2019 at 07:07 AM.

Afaik, logitech has the best wireless mice atleast. You could go for their more office mice, but they have some decent cheaper gaming mice such as G603, G602 and G305.
There are few kbs with high bandwidth wireless with lightning etc. Logitech G613 is maybe the best option for mech/gaming, if not office keyboards is prob the way to go.

Hi guys, looking to upgrade my desktop because im getting crashes (no video input crash, have to reboot)/high cpu temps when playing video games. its getting laggy even when just scanning antivirus. i guess its time, running a gtx 970 and i5-4690 cpu atm.
I saw a deal on alienware from dell. u get a 9th gen intel i9 9900k cpu and rtx 2080 ti oc'd, 16 gb ram and 256 gb ssd + 2tb hdd for $3.6k canadian. i looked at other prebuilt gaming rigs and to have a 2080 ti, it starts around that price point and then ramping up.
Is this a good deal, guys? I looked at amazon.ca and memory express (canadian shop) and i think i found a good deal for an alienware rig. it was actually priced at $4.4k cad and now its $3.6k.
thoughts? i want to do some 4k gaming with good frame rates and also for 5.1 or 7.1 sound system in the future.
edit: yea looks like my cpu crapped out. temperature got to 71 degress celcius after a minutes of mcafee antivirus. utilization from cpu is at 94-99% just running that and chrome. ideally, i would just get a new cpu and motherboard because the 970 is still running fine at 1080p, but i can get the alienware rig in installment loans with no interest paid if paid in full in 12 months. then i can put this pc in the living room to stream movies or whatever...Last edited by PrimarisIn; 04-06-2019 at 12:25 AM.

I simply had to have this case, but i couldnt find the dark variant anywhere. ended up getting it from walmart out of all places. the geometric design on the front mesh, full tempered glass panel unlike the h500 with that ghastly looking steel portion at the bottom, tinted glass which honestly looks better with minimal rbg, this case is aesthetic and functional. efficient space makes wire management so easy despite the case being on the smaller end, dedicated areas for SSDs, no longer do you have to buy the adapters.
ONLY ISSUE IS i cannot seem to bring my gpu temps down. I have two 140mm fans in the front and one exhaust in the back and the gpu temps DO NOT budge.Last edited by KramericaInd; 04-06-2019 at 09:56 AM.

Do you live near the US border where you can get a PC shipped/bought somewhere and take with you to the lame north? If you really need top of the line everything, you can get it around $2-2.2k here depending on promos/rebates.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/d7ZxJ8
The i9 you're looking at would be $100-150 more expensive, but youre looking at more RAM/SSD/HDD, liquid cooling for $2200 without the rebates/promos etc.Arsenal F.C / San Antonio Spurs

im actually not sure if its a virus/malware or hardware problem. it started from dota 2 crashing all the time (no video display) and it randomly uninstalled. quite a few people experienced it too. i just played fallout 4 for a couple of hours and both the gpu and cpu temps got up to 70 degrees c. after idling now they are both high thirties. i got this pc in 2015 and cleaned it a couple years later and there were barely any dust in it at all.
hmm interesting... looks like those come to 3k cad which isnt a bad deal at all. yea i live a couple hours from the border but have no us address to pick it up from. i was actually looking at ibuypower and they got some good deals but import duties and tax would be at least a couple hundos i bet.
the alienware im thinking of getting is the aurora r8, which got 4.5 stars from toms guide and 78% from pc gamer with their only complaints being that its a bit loud and of course the price premium. the review from toms guide was only 2 days ago and they show similar specs for the aurora r8 at 3 grand usd (i think):
so the one i customized has the 9900k cpu and ti version of the 2080 for ~$3575 cad, including 1 year limited warranty with onsite service. i got approved from the dell financial services for an order not above $3500 so im waiting to hear from a rep and seeing what my next options are.Last edited by PrimarisIn; 04-06-2019 at 03:48 PM.

Attempted a reinstall of windows 10, as I was able to slowly navigate the settings. Literally took a day and a half to complete the reinstall (3-4% per hour), and now it won't even turn on LOL.
Done with this computer. Going to buy a new motherboard/CPU/Ram and upgrade to DDR4. Everything else should still be good, and I'll just upgrade the rest over time.*LoggedInWizard Crew*

70C for GPU is not bad at all under load, even for CPU thats nothing to really worry about. idle temps are fine aswell to be honest. Your problems mainly seem to be software related, possibly driver corruption or bad drivers. CPU's themselves rarely "go bad" unless you do some extreme overclocking. I would guess a fresh clean install of windows and being mindful of drivers installed should do a decent job in fixing this problem. It might even only be related to the GPU drivers for which you could use "DDU" (google it) to completely clean out your GPU drivers from the system (and after that install new ones). If that doesnt work then sometimes it really is faster to just start with fresh Windows install, just need to backup your stuff but that should be regular practice anyways so...
