it looks like memory bandwidth is slower in 2990wx compared to 2950x unless you turn off half the cores. 2950x seems like a good choice

when you're playing a competitive FPS game, how much of a disadvantage are you putting yourself by using a 60hz monitor? i encountered someone who was a streamer and it seemed like in real time my game was almost behind. granted, PUBG is a poor game to compare this to but i was wondering if i am putting myself at a disadvantage by not using a good monitor.

additionally, i see almost all people who play competitve FPS are using intel processors. i myself have a 1700x. not that the processor itself is a slouch by any means but is it a noticeable difference in FPS gain regardless of GPU for gaming most times with amd vs intel?

I feel like i am missing out in some respects by not going balls deep on certain pieces of gear in my rig.

If you're a competitive gamer, 60 hz -> 144 hz is like the biggest change. 60 FPS feels like I'm lagging or nonstop stuttering now. Freesync/Gsync is also a welcome addition but not as big as 144 hz.

Ryzen 1700x is solid and streamers use Intel because of sponsors and if not, they go for the best possible PC available. 8700k is the best gaming CPU, but price to performance wise, Ryzen wins.

If you're not happy with your PC performance, you should upgrade your GTX 1060. But honestly it's not a good time right now because they're most likely releasing the GTX 11xx soon (Rumor is 8/20). GTX 1080 has been going on sale for $300-400 because of it

well, its been about 5 years since my last PC update. I put the order in for my new one. I currently have a 1080ti in my rig, hence the 1050ti Im getting it with. Ill hook up my 2x27" 1080p monitors to that and put my 34" on the 1080ti.

why wouldnt I want to remove 2x 1920x1080 monitors from the 1080ti work load? Allow it to only be on the 3440x1440, center monitor.

Savings? I think the TI can handle all of them since you will only be gaming on the 1440P monitor anyway.
But looks like you assembled and ordered from Cyberpower. Can you not order without the 1050Ti? Or you just really wanted a separate GPU?

Id say the same but I've been running my 1080ti since November seeing how much load the ti is put under. Since I work in multiple 3D programs, some that require GPU power, it does make a difference for me. Especially since the two outside monitors are using GPU for software Im running.

I buy through Xidax though, not that I think anything is wrong with Cyberpower.

That build should cover all general needs and the card will drive most games you throw at it.
Imo that's a build you'd want to promote to console people although they still win on their console budgets. That ofc depends on the accessories and the monitors/tvs used.

I pulled my dusty ass Wasabi Mango 40" 4k 60hz monitor out to try some Fortnite and see how I like it after using 34" 1440p 100hz monitors for the last year or so.
