How much you thinking? I am planning on building my son a computer, but was targeting a 2600 for him.

RX 590 is pretty much approaching the end of relevancy IMO. Other than that, not a bad price for a pre built PC.

Not at all. And there's dozens of good youtube videos of how to do it step by step.

    Can confirm...

I basically had my 10 year old build my last rig with minimal help and some youtube videos.

I used that series. Watched a step with him. Paused it for him. Then had him do the step. Helped him learn a lot along the way.

The component video isn't super relevant in this month as 2019 has had significant price/performance changes.

The build I linked above is basically the Ultimate 1080p 144 hz gaming machine.

keeping my old one for the time being. gtx 1080 w aftermarket heatsink (temps never go above 55 with oc)

i'm not going to upgrade my gpu until there is a monitor with the following specs:
    4k ultrawide
    ~40in
    100hz+ g-sync

until then, my 1080 will power my acer x34 just fine

I currently game on a console with 75” Tv. I just bought a 43” curved ultra wide gaming monitor for my new pc. I was thinking of moving all of my gaming to the smaller gaming monitor instead of the larger 4K tv. Is this a good idea?

Thanks. I have heard that the picture quality and response time is superior. I guess that I will leave the tv for movies and shows.

Working on a new build. This is my dad's new work computer. Normally he just buys a prebuilt, but they are literally charging 2k more than parts cost for assembly. Considering starting a side business if I can operate on those margins.

This is a workstation for CAD with solidworks. Needs to be able to do BOTH the design and the rendering functions, but most importantly be 100% stable.

The biggest abnormality is the GPU. I am picking up an RTX 4000. This thing solely exists due to the corporate market. It is a blower designed detuned 2070 (non-super) designed to deal with lots of polygons at low fps. The next tier up is $2200+ for a detuned blower 2080 non-super. Even for a work computer I can't justify that price.

For the CPU I was torn between the 9900KS and the 3900X. Solidworks is weird because some functions like frequency and some like cores. I ended up choosing the cores, because the user often makes tweeks to parts WHILE a render is in progress.

Motherboard is a challenge. All the review sites seem to HATE MSI x570 versions due to their crappy VRM. However, they also have the highest user reviews. I ended up going with the X570 Taichi because of its feature set and amazing VRM. The primary user complaint seems to be that the front USB-C ports get blocked by longer cards. I do not foresee that being a problem with a blower design.

For the SSD I had two possibilities. The 2TB 660p or a 1 TB proper NMVE drive. Ended up going for the Sabrent Rocket as it is just a hair slower than the Samsung variant, but significantly cheaper.

For Ram I refered to https://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/3...-uclock-mclock
He is currently using 26 GB under full load so I wanted to give him head room, but I did not see him ever going beyond 64 GB. The Trident Z NEO 3600MHz CL16 seems to be the sweet spot before things get stupid expensive. This will not be overclocked as stability is priority one.

He still needs a disk drive for certain projects so I picked up a well reviewed drive that can do it all.

The case choices were limited by the needs of that disk drive. It is in a professional environment so I did not want a window and noise was a concern. Ended up going with the Fractal Design R6 usb c.

So I installed the new mobo/cpu/heat sink/ram without any hiccups (fortunately). Just swapped everything, plugged everything in and boom power on immediately

Didn’t even need to get a new windows key or even log in. Just went straight to the home screen which I wasn’t expecting

One issue though. The Noctua nh-d15. I’ve noticed the fans (2) rattle a bit because they aren’t super securely pressed against the heatsink. Has anybody had this issue with Noctua? Any suggestions on how to fix it? I kind of just want to put a big rubber band around the entire heatsink and that should hold it in place but that doesn’t sound like the best idea

That rattling is most likely because you haven't fastened the "spring bars" in place correctly.
If they are correctly it shouldn't let the fans move, they will be snugly fit against the soft silicon strips that are on the metal. (You might have direct contact fan to metal, but on my Noctua I have these silicon dampeners that are between the fan and the heatsink. )

Just built a new PC, went into the gigabyte bios to overclock the ram so i can actually get my 3200mhz. I have my mouse on 1600dpi in windows, but in the bios a foot of mouse pad was like a inch on screen... Anyone had this with gigabyte hardware before?

G-Skill has a new series of "cheap" ram that's tuned for Ryzen with very good timings and speed.
I've recommended it previously for different builds, it's the Neo 3600 MHz C16 kit.
    https://www.gskill.com/specification...-Specification

I bought it yesterday and got it installed today. Boy, the 2600X is so stable now.
I managed to OC it to 4.175 GHz all cores with 1.38V. Currently stresstesting 4.1GHz 1.35V.

Later I am gonna try to see if I can tune the timings a little bit more, the Ryzen ram calculator has the ability to import XMP profiles now so that you can see current timings and their optimized timings.

    Current timings:
FREQUENCY CAS RCD RP RAS RC FAW RRDS RRDL
    1802 MHz 16 19 19 39 58 44 4 9

Managed 10916 score in 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme.
3DMark read my 2600X as running 4.2 GHz and my 1080 as running 2101 MHz core clock.

After testing it for a while, I am not able to get it running stable.
Currently reverted all my attempts at tightening the timings and now just trying to get it to run without crashing.

turns out there's a slight bend/disfiguration in one of the fans, not allowing it to secure perfectly evenly. How annoying

LG 65inch C9 is the truth m8s. Glorious screen. 4k HDR content looks great. Xbox one X asked I wanted to switch to 1440p 120hz when I turned it on which is pretty cool. Should be a great tv for the next gen consoles if there a few types of games that can do 4k more than 60fps on hdmi 2.1 or whatever. I’ll have to see how the Gsync this is. Does that work with consoles as well?

Haven’t picked anything up for the pc yet though. Out of town this weekend for a wedding so haven’t been able to keep an eye on very many prices.

Mice commonly have issues like that in bios settings. Basically they are crafting an GUI to run on a small space and drivers for mice aren't a high priority.

It’s an OLED. From what I’ve read that’s wildly overblown for practical use. I think rtings had them running 24/7 on a news channel for like 4 years straight to see burn in. I’ll be lucky to game 15 hours a week on it. With maybe another 10 of Netflix or HBO

How do I go about fixing screen flickering on PC to 4k tv? I didnt have this issue for the first 2 weeks, now all of a sudden this is happening in 15-30 second intervals. Literally unplayable! It's actually more like the screen turns off for a moment then turns back on. It happens whether I'm playing a game or not, a little less often when I'm simply browsing though.

It's not the hdmi cable, nor the port. The tv itself doesn't flicker when i'm watching netflix or disney+. Doesn't happen to my 1440p...well actually it does sometimes when i'm playing warframe, but its pretty uncommon. have a rx 590 rn.

edit 2.0 - returned the tv back to my 12 year old 720p sony bravia. stuck with a 558 dollar gift card wat do

    Thinking hard about this.

    https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xCRNcq

Would be about that price. Would get 60 bucks or so off via Microcenter, but then would buy a Corsair Commander Pro. So would be right around 2700 + however much for a windows key. Gaming only obv. Microcenter also has the Asus 27'' 144 hz 4k monitor for only 1100 as well.. hmm.. at the very least i may buy that 660p drive and 2080ti from newegg today while they are discounted...but might just buy the whole shebang tbh, 2700 well within what i was looking to spend.

Will I finally join the Master Race.. decisions decisions.

I'm considering building something very similar as well to get back into PC gaming but I hear next gen cards are right around the corner I don't know whether to wait or just build everything high end except get a budget card like a 5700xt then sell it for a small loss once ampere comes out..
