I can, but I think that most people (and I have tested with friends) tend to 'adjust'. People I know can see the difference if it is side by side, but it's not like if you go to 1440p after not having used the 4k 27" much that you'll 'need it'.
Yeah I have a C9 too, but I want to keep my PC area for gaming and then keep my living room for 'communal' stuff, movies, etc.
I'm still searching for 'the one' and came across the 32" version:
But rumors are that it'll be 3600 USD (lol) and still use dp 1.4 and hdmi 2.0 - which'll mean no from the get-go. And that's what I mean - the C9 has HDMI 2.1 and has for some time now and computer monitors at the very high end (like the PG27UQ) don't? Huh?
Still hoping it'll be a good year for PCs (monitors, graphics cards) and that we won't have to wait until 2021 for some of the better tech to be mainstreamed.

I want to upgrade my 7700k I bought almost 3 years ago to go with my 2080ti but I'm not sure what to go for. I was thinking of getting a 10700k or 10900k but now I'm second guessing that and thinking of trying AMD. With the 10th gen Intel being such a small upgrade over the previous gen will AMD finally take the crown as far as gaming goes with their next gen stuff? The 3900x wasn't too far behind a 9900k in gaming was it?

Today has been interesting seeing that 7700k get matched by a $120 CPU. I remember my 6700 well and was amazed how well it worked back in the day.
It wasn't that far behind especially at higher resolutions, but it was behind. I expect the 10900k will take AMD fairly well (provided you can cool it) also being able to get a 9900k(10700k) at $370 is intriguing. However, with them changing the socket every generation I get a bonar kill.
If I was you I would get the X570 Tomahawk and pair it with a 3600. When the 4900x releases late 2020/early 2021 upgrade to that and sell your 3600. Seems like the cheapest way to upgrade today without eating hundreds of dollars for being impatient. I am more on the value sector, so the idea of R3L3NTL3SS throwing away hundreds of dollars to have a 2080ti for a few months makes my angus hurt on his behalf.Finance Degree - USAF INTEL - IIFYM - Injured Crew - KTM XCW300 - Single Track Trail Rider - NRA Supporter - Shunned from MFC - Libertarian - Pragmatist

Ya I was thinking a long the same lines with buying something now since I can reuse the motherboard when the 4000 series comes out if I go Ryzen. I read that article today that benchmarked the 3300x vs the 7700k and it seems crazy it actually beat it in a few games for $120. It look like people are still paying 200+ for a used 7700k which doesn't make sense. I paid $250 for it almost 3 years ago off someone local and it was one delidded/binned by silicon lottery. Being able to use it all this time and still almost get my money back seems pretty dam good.

It is all about that socket... Making people upgrade their MB's every generation artificially increases prices. If you had a 7000 series i5 or i3 that 7700k is your only option.
AM4 lasting 4 generations of CPU was a brilliant move. Throwing in a used 4900k into a mid tier computer 4 years from now for cheap will add a lot of life to handme down computers.Finance Degree - USAF INTEL - IIFYM - Injured Crew - KTM XCW300 - Single Track Trail Rider - NRA Supporter - Shunned from MFC - Libertarian - Pragmatist

nothing made me more mad than having a i7 6700k wanting to upgrade and the best thing I could do is a side grade to a 5% increase in performance at i7 7700k (lmfao wtf)
this 3rd gen ryzen got me to finally switch. Got the 3900x for $400 (12 cores, 24 thread).. beast mode especially for photo/video production.
and knowing 4th gen will work with my mobo, I can probably get a used or cheap lets say 4900x 3 years from now that will probably still kick ass.*** Free Thinker Crew ***

AMD just threw a bucket of cold water in the face of pre-500 series motherboard owners.
https://community.amd.com/community/...amd-socket-am4
^They say 4000-series aren't supported on pre-500 series motherboards.
Comments on reddit think otherwise given that 3000 series support wasn't "officially" declared, but it worked on all 300-series motherboards (even on A320).
https://old.reddit.com/r/Amd/comment...x570_and_b550/
So, it seems like we'll have to wait.
The argument from AMD about flash storage size was pretty weak considering that my motherboard (high-end Asus X470) has the same amount of flash storage as high-end X570 boards (https://old.reddit.com/r/Amd/comment..._motherboards/).
And when you check the spreadsheet linked above you'll see lots of boards with lots of storage.
We'll probably just have to upgrade the bios and then we're fine to go.Last edited by MrJensenn; 05-08-2020 at 02:53 AM.

Even my 3600X is a beast in production applications. And it's no where near the higher end of what AMD can do. And I still have a **** load of CPU horsepower for gaming with it too.
In reality, unless your CPU is a potato, there's a 99% chance your CPU isn't holding you back these days.
Literally an AMD Ryzen 1600 that used to be able to be bought for UNDER $100 (before demand for them drove the price up) could be paired with a 2080Ti and in 1440 resolution, you weren't losing that much FPS performance to a CPU costing 2-3X more.
Just all the more reason why it's cringey that people demand an i9 9900 for gaming when you're spending a **** ton of money for extremely minimal performance gains depending on resolution. It simply isn't worth it to buy Intel anymore, in any category...gaming or not for the priceerformance ratio. If you just have money to blow and demand every tiny bit of performance you can get, sure. For the other 99% of people - hell no.

I thought Ryzen 4000 was Zen 2+?
I figured Ryzen 5000 was going to switch sockets because I saw DDR5 on their road map.
Wait
The 1080 TI is still the 3rd best card. Spending the high end premium on something that will perform like mid tier cards is pretty crazy.

giuse will my i9-9900k bottleneck the 3080ti when i upgrade from my 1080?
I'm currently having an issue where my ram(32gb) is somehow at 30-50% usage according to my msi overlay despite task manager only showing 1gb used at most
thoughts on why there's a discrepancy?MS, Computer Science
