Just tweak the card in MSI Afterburner, it isn't worth paying $100-200 for a few MHz.

Hey guy, I bought parts for a computer that were recommended, but have an issue since im not too tech savy. It's in regards to a physical size issue, was wondering if these would fit.

So i received the cooler as the last piece and it's ginormous, even i can tell just by looking at it not sure its fit case. then saw a youtube vid saying the ram might also be an issue since theyre tall.

So I wont be able to reach the person who was going to be putting it together for some time and was wondering if I should refund the cooler or get different ram or bigger case while i still can?

If it was me I'd get a different cooler. I would get an AiO water cooler from NZXT or Corsair.

The problem with coolers that have a big footprint, like the Noctua ones, is that the ram height clearance isn't that much, around 40-42mm.
Dominator Platinum is too high to be able to fit under the heatsink of most Noctua coolers.
To solve it you would have to get LPX (low profile) ram.

You could also check if the motherboard is designed with enough clearance between the CPU and the RAM slots.

Personally I would just return the platinum ram and get some low profile sticks that would fit under the heatsink. These coolers (both NZXT and Corsair) have crappy software.

Finally got around to running the Cat6 cable and lol at Wi-fi. Should have done this the same day i moved my gaming rig. From 230 Mbps up/down to 950 Mbps up/down, wouldnt even bother with Wi-fi unless you had no other choice.

Really depends on your router and your network card.
If your computer has a gigabit card and your router supports 1gbit then a cable will give you maximum 1gbit.
If your router can only give 200 mbits and your card can only take that or less then you will get less.

Hello, im new to these forums (not really, ghosted a lot), but I decided to make an account finally.

Anyhow, Started a watercooled beast gaming rig and boy was I underestimating the work, research, patience and purchases that would be involved. As a person who doesnt have a lot of either of those I wouldnt recommend you bother with it. In my nexts posts I will be listing out the parts in this build and showing pics of the process ect. Guys im upgrading to coffe lake finally after being on poverty i5 4670k for so long, wondering whats the good point for ram speed? should i just go all out on 4000mhz or get less? this is for 3440x1440 gaming where every fps counts for some games.

Just get the ram that you think looks nice and that fits with your cooler.
Most of the memory modules are either Hynix or Samsung and then you have Corsair and G.Skill throwing on the bling.

Check out timings and speed, find a good middle ground. The ram producers are price gouging these days so ram is way too expensive.

Difference in timings and mhz. Usually it's about the lowest timings and the highest clocks, like C14 & 3200 MHz, although that's pretty expensive.

Ya I got 16GB 3000 in December last year for $85. I just upgraded to some TridentZ RGB 16GB 3200 like 2 months ago for $150 and even that is $220 on newegg now? WTF

I currently have 5 monitors and im planning to sell 3 or 4, looking to upgrade to a big ultra wide probably. I also want to upgrade gpu, vega 56/64 going back to msrp is nice but im also interested in rx580 or even a 1070+ from nvidea side.
Even though i saw the 1070s for 296 and 342 2 days ago i didn't buy im so dumb! Im not really sold on performance increase to upgrade to a different platform tho and this i5 isnt going anywhere baby!

I'm at 60+ FPS constantly in PUBG and 100ish in Fortnite, but I feel like I could upgrade and gain some more.

I've still only got the two monitors, 34" ultrawide and 40" 4k.
