What do you guys think about this build?

Haven't gamed in several months...always been a console guy.

Wanted something around $1500 but saw this for a bit more and it seems good.

Console games i used to play were overwatch and apex mainly. Not sure what I'll be playing on pc tbh besides those. Maybe GTA 5 & 6, some COD, etc.

More excited to build a pc than to play games tbh lol.
Stretch your budget for an XTX. I have the same CPU with the XTX and it is one of the best purchases I made, every game just purrs along.

What should my budget be if I wanted 4k, 60 fps, and full ray tracing? Can someone build me a PC for a guide?

4k Ultra RT on at 60+fps is still not possible on most games native even with a 4090 as that only average 55.9 FPS in the Toms Test Suite.

With DLSS, switching to high, and a few other tricks you can go as low as a 4070ti super and have a good experience however, that isn't a great card at its price point and the 4080/4080S is recommended.

I would do something like this:

    PCPartPicker Part List

    CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor ($369.00 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE ARGB 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler ($35.90 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI PRO B650-P WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard ($171.99 @ Amazon)
    Memory: TEAMGROUP T-Create Expert 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory ($92.99 @ Amazon)
    Storage: Acer Predator GM7000 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive ($124.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Asus ProArt OC GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16 GB Video Card ($1149.99 @ ASUS)
Case: Fractal Design Pop Air ATX Mid Tower Case ($59.99 @ B&H)
Power Supply: Corsair RM750e (2023) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($78.99 @ Best Buy)
    Total: $2083.84
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

    However, because I am cheap.

I would get this OPEN BOX 4080 at $827 right now.

I'm looking to build my first PC. I'm not looking to do any gaming or anything that needs cutting-edge resources but I would like something solid. I'm mostly looking for this to be a PC for home audio recording. Nice CPU, 16 GB RAM minimum, some extra PCI/PCIe slots, dgaf about GPU. It would be nice to have something I can upgrade a little bit years down the line if something goes south and CPUs will be nice and cheap by then.

With that said, could I stick with an AM4/LGA 1200 set and save a few hundred total in costs, or is the cost negligible enough to where I might as well get the newer chipsets?
Also, the motherboards I have looked at, almost all of them only have maybe 3 PCIe slots. Is that the standard now? I gotta nitpick and say 4 would be my sweet spot.
Anything else I should consider going this route? Will rep for good answers. Hopefully this thread isn't too dead.

This build is giving you everything you want and nothing else and I didn't make it aesthetic.

For you... AM4 makes the most sense right now for you as the only AM5 with a strong IGPU is over $300.

I gave you 32 GB of 3600 CL 16 as you don't have a GPU so tighter timings and higher speed would be worth it.

The MB is sufficient with 4 pcie x 16 slots. You don't need a lot of power for this.

SSD is the cheapest A tier on the market 2 tb right now which will be good for your sound editing.

You aren't running a GPU so I went cheap on the PSU and got the current lowest C tier unit, but you have overhead to use it in the future if needed.

Case is current cheapest Gamers Nexus approved case. There are a lot of options if you want to spend a few extra dollars.

Those 32inch 4k 240hz oleds in stock anywhere yet? Partial to the Asus variant probably. Their 27inch 4k 144hz has served me well the last 5 years
