Yea I drained the loop. The water is only a few months old. So I re-used it. I only had to remove two tubes. Well remove two fittings that is. I had to drain it back in Jan for the CPU/Mobo/Ram upgrade. My computer stays pretty clean. I have fan filter up front and then put a custom made filter up top as well. Pretty much dust free inside.

Need help building a 1440p build! My budget is around $1400 not including keyboard/monitor/mouse since I have those already.
Here's what I have so far.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6HDwFd
Some questions:
1. Do I need ram that good? I want 16 gb and I have heard that kelby lake can use 3200 ram so I got that, but I have no idea if it's worth the price and if not what I should get instead.
2. I have no idea what motherboard to get but I'm thinking of getting a 7600k so it needs to be able to overclock. I'm mainly going to be using wireless and I don't know if most motherboards have that or if I need to buy a wireless adapter separately.
3. Also need help with case recommendations or if there is anything else that could be better optimized (cheaper ram and get a 1080 instead?)

Build looks solid to me.
1) I don't know much about ram, would be a good question for @InstantLoser
2) MOBO's vary a lot. I've had good luck with the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 MOBO, but you'll need to buy a separate wireless adapter.
3) I'm partial to the Corsair C70 case:
Aesthetics through the roof, room for plenty of fans (I have 8), very spacious for building etc.+++ Positive Crew +++

RAM is not a bottleneck so the speed doesn't matter. To my understanding, anything DDR3 1600mhz or faster is basically all a non-issue. If you can save some $$$ by getting a lower speed and use it to get a 1080 (like you said) you'd get much greater bang for your buck that way.

I'm not crazy knowledgeable, but my build is similar to yours.
i7 6700k @ 4.6ghz
32gigs ram
MSI Gaming 1070 8G
SSD/HDD combo
Gigabyte Gaming 7 mobo
And on 1440p I have most games on high to max settings getting between 60-100 FPS depending on the game and what's going on (Mainly BF1, Skyrim, Fallout and Ark). So you're definitely going to be happy with your build.

Just bought an i7 7700 for $220. Did I dun goof getting non-overclock version? Just so cheap!
I really didn't see myself overclocking tbh. Trying to build a solid, affordable rig for gaming/video editing. Seemed to fit my needs.Last edited by GhenghisPWN; 03-27-2017 at 07:42 PM.

What I look for in memory are the capacity and frequency and sometimes the cas latency. Since you're going with a DDR4 kit the lowest frequency they go to is somewhere around 2000mhz. 3200mhz is very good for gaming.
Most motherboards don't have wireless included so you will need to review the mobo you are looking at before buying. However you can just buy a wifi dongle.

Bump. I have until AM to cancel order if needed. I do not have a monitor yet, so perhaps the fact I saved so much $ can provide comfort as my budget won't keep getting blown up. I can put savings to other aspects of my build. I currently only have the GTX 1070 in hand.
Will I kick myself in the ass for not getting the 7700k (or even Ryzen R5) even though I saved over $150 (OC mobo + better cooling + price differential on CPU)?
Trying to be budget concious while still having a gaming/video editing rig for 4 years.Last edited by GhenghisPWN; 03-27-2017 at 11:41 PM.

It is pretty simple...Do you want to overclock? If so then you will need at least an AIO for that chip and you'll have to go in the bios settings to fix the AUTO vcore voltage as they are crap from the factory. The 7700k will run hot, but it is def nice to be running at 5GHz. Now you can always delid next if you want. If you have no reason to OC then stick with the 7700.

Another interesting thing I found online. I always thought the high-end PC group represent just a tiny percentage in the PC marketshare. Arstechnica have this pie chart grouping the PC Master Race into 3:

Well clearly my assumption is wrong lol. I based my assumption to the average american share within the income class where:
- Upper Class is roughly 20%
- Middle Class is roughly 51% and
- Lower Class is roughly 29%
I guess I failed to consider that the average middle class american can easily afford getting a high-end PC especially in the MISC lol.Steam - jinda28

The evga ftw 980ti I had was legit the loudest and hottest card I've ever heard. Never again. Msi all day.
Even my 1080ti fe is quieter and cooler. Really don't understand why people go nuts over evga ftw cardsYes... come and let us make an end of it. It matters not, even cornered, to my last breath... ^ nice scores brah!
So I decided to delid my 7700K and was pleased with the results. I don't have the setup eXistenceLies does but my CPU hit 5.2 GHz and was stable enough to run Cinebench @ 1.392V and scored 1130. This tiny motherboard is pretty damn capable.
