    I mean don't get me wrong, if I had don't-give-a-****-money, I'd do a Titan RTX, but yeah it's like 2.5X more than a 2080Ti and like...not even 10% more performance depending on title lol.

    Finally upgrading my 7 year old dinosaur gaming rig. It was built when I was just entering college with mid-tier parts. I mostly game on console now (Xbone-X) but decided to resurrect and revamp my old system. Will be used as an AIO emulator including Wii-U and PS3 emulation, and will also use it for any PC exclusives.

    i5 4670K -> i7 4790K
    GTX 760 SC -> GTX 1660 Super
    8GB DDR3 -> 16GB DDR3

    Still on an old 1150 motherboard and trying to do this with a relatively reasonable budget. Even modern AAA titles should run really comfortably at 1080p with these specs, and I'll probably be able to run most of my emulation at 4K.

    This is probably worth a read for you - https://venturebeat.com/2018/10/15/n...st-for-twitch/

    I'd imagine you could use either depending on what game you're playing, and how much it demands out of the CPU Vs. GPU. You don't have weak components so either would work, would probably be a case by case toss up as to which is ideal.

    I think NVENC defaults to H265. Smaller file size, similar quality.

    Probably, but....why? That's cutting things super close. PSU's are too cheap (in comparison to other parts) to go cheap on something that could fry your entire system if it ****s the bed.
    If you're building a modern PC with a current gen CPU, current gen GPU, etc, you should be building with at least a 600W IMO.

    At this rate, leaks seem to show that the 3090 (3080Ti) (specification leak: https://videocardz.com/newz/rumored-...cations-emerge) is either not that impressive (30% over the 2080Ti https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-g...py-score-leaks), or a disaster for AMD if it is the 3080 instead that is 30% over the 2080Ti.

    Given the next console generation coming I wouldn't be surprised if it is the latter, but I'm not holding my breath.

    If whatever the top card is (Not Titan or titan equivalent) will give me at least 30% over my 2080Ti,. I will likely make the jump just to play CP2077 at 100FPS on ultra settings with RTX on at 3440X1440. Because I highly doubt my 2080Ti is going to do that, although I'm sure it will do it at 60 which is still plenty for an RPG, but still. 100 is my monitors refresh so I may as well try to at least get that.

    Not trying to argue or be difficult, just wondering -

    Why isn't 60fps considered good anymore? Like less than 5 years ago, the running PCMR joke was "Consoles can't do 60fps", and now that consoles can do 60, now it's suddenly an embarrassing minimum for PC's?

    I'm not saying that 120fps isn't better than 60, just blows my mind that as soon as 60fps is widely accessible, it's not good enough anymore. I wonder how long it'll be until we have 16K TV's with 244hz refresh rates.

    I'm a lot older than you, but back in my Quake 3 tournaments we ran CRTs at 100+Hz, and I tried to lock 100fps as well by turning settings down. I was primarily an FPS guy in competitive gaming and so I prefer the buttery smooth high frame rate experience.

    The 60Hz/FPS thing was a compromise for people like me, big time, as we shifted monitor technologies. If I'm playing the Witcher 3 I don't care of course (but still want 60fps as a minimum) about the high FPS.

    For anything other than first person shooter games 60FPS is perfectly acceptable. But not optimal. For me, I can still see a difference in how smooth a game runs from 60 to 90ish. After 90, it can be 500...I don't see any difference at all personally. Others claim they can.
    For me, I just want to max out my 3440X1440 monitors refresh, which is 100...for basically no real world reason other than just because. lol

    Edit: 60FPS has basically always been the lowest acceptable frame rate for as long as I can recall gaming...which on PC has been for like 15 years at least...

    ^^Thanks guys. I think I've just spent too long living the poverty peasant life with antiquated mid range parts.

    I didn't know that even 20 years ago FPS gamers were already trying to get 60+ FPS.

    Yeah - I'll be going for 4K, HDR, 100+Hz, but 4:4:4 no compromise, and the new HDMI/DP connectors or it'll be DoA. If I can get that panel (I'd even go up to 32 inch for the PG32UQX - if QC matches the price tag and I'm not playing panel lottery) then I'll get the fastest single gpu on the market which should be the 3080Ti.

    The thing is, I think Nvidia leading with 2080Ti was an aberration last round - I do hope they lead with the Ti (fastest gaming card) this time around as well. And that it all comes around this holiday season.

    The thing is, I think Nvidia leading with 2080Ti was an aberration last round - I do hope they lead with the Ti (fastest gaming card) this time around as well. And that it all comes around this holiday season.

    I really hope this is the case

    1080 -> 3080ti is gonna be hnng

    I don't care when they launch, I just hope the ti comes out before cyberpunk which will likely happen.

    Fml guys.

    My new 1660 Super came in and it's dead out of the box. This is the second time I've had this happen with an MSI product. Calling NewEgg tomorrow to refund, but I'm pretty disappointed because I know the stock for 1660 Supers is basically at 0 now. I had purchased one of the last of the inventory.

    Fuuuuuuuu. Ironically, the 4790K I bought used off of eBay was clean as a whistle and has so far shown no problems with voltage or holding a nice cool temperature.

    All the cards should be available around the same time. Most of the 2070s, for example, were just lower-binned 2080s, usually ones with a couple defective CUDA cores where their connections were just laser cut. So if they're following the same deal again, 3070s and 3080s should be available simultaneously. NVidia will launch the 3080 first though, because that's where all the hype and money is at.

    I'm honestly most excited for hdmi 2.1

    Dont get me wrong I have the Acer Predator X27 and it's an amazing monitor but I'd rather make better use of the LG c9 in my gaming room. Excited as hell to game on an OLED + much larger screen

    I've been super lucky with monitors. Bought 4 brand new ones in the last year and all have arrived in great shape, no dead pixels, etc.

    I've had comically bad luck with building personal computers. I've only built 2 personal gaming machines in the last 7 years. The first time I had to do a 2 hour round trip to replace another MSI product I had dead out of the box - Z87 Mpower motherboard. Now 7 years later on my next personal rig, I again have a dead MSI component straight out of the box.

    Funny part is this whole time I've also worked in IT and very seldom have users with hardware failures. Especially anything dead when it's supposed to be brand new.

    Two brands I've had the worst luck with over the years for DoA parts is Asus and ASrock. MSi has never let me down yet in ~15 years of building computers. **** happens unfortunately. It is what it is.

    See, I know it's just "luck of the draw" and "**** happens", but it is funny to me that I hear about people having problems with ASUS reliability and customer support where I've never had a problem with my ASUS components or laptop, but both times I've purchased from MSI, who most people consider to be better, I've had the component dead on arrival.

    Just ironic. I'm heading to UPS soon to ship this brick back to NewEgg.

    One of my rigs runs on an Asrock mobo and the other on an Asus, fingers crossed.

    Fortunately I've never had a part arrive DOA.

    Honestly my Asus parts have been great. I had a rough patch with Gigabyte (motherboards) but my X570 now is a dream.

    I have been building PCs since back in the Intel motherboard days. I find companies to be too inconsistent (across products) to long-term recommend aside from say, Nvidia over the last long while. And even then the Asus cards I have bought have been fantastic.

    Wait a little bit and you'll have the option to get one of the newer XT series CPUs from AMD, and/or the new RTX 3000 series from Nvidia, or the RX 6000 series from AMD.
