Last time I emptied the watercooling also.
Yea my bad didnt know the intricies of the 2700x heat sink and fan. It weighs a lot, but thought it was good riding in the back seat when I moved.

For home video editing / personal projects, is it worth it to be buying large SSD's now? If so what ones?. Would be drone, gopro, iphone in 4k and using Premiere Pro

A couple years back i used some large HDD's, but SSD's have come down a lot in price

    Current specs

    9600k
    2080s
    1TB 2.5in sata SSD
    16gb RAM
    no HDD

edit: a little more research and i can see there are NVMe ssd's now too. In a perfect world should i have that as my boot drive and for programs?

Just picked up an rtx 2060, hopefully it's a good upgrade on the 1050 ti. built a new comp last year but didn't upgrade the 1050 ti as wasn't playing any new games until now. (cod warzone) should be here in a few days.

yea the plastic retention brackets completely broke, gotta be careful moving it around, as you know the cpu and heat sink plus cooler is very heavy lol.

ordered these off amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/PartsCollectio.../dp/B07C2BXDQM $ 9 plastic and screws and then Arctic thermal paste.

My issue was probably because they screwed the bracket too tight to the motherboard and the plastic chipped and then eventually broke off, but I still like amd processors for gaming because it's cheaper and comes with an oem stock cooler!

get amazon prime boyo, really worth it for free returns/exchanges. and arctic thermal paste is legit af, i have it as a back up. ryzen is solid for practical uses imo unless u wanna go intel for extra fps benchmarks. our stock cooler got RGB we need moar RGB. it has been proven RGB boosts performance.

srsly go to pcpartpicker.com, pick your parts, make sure they are all compatible, site does it for you then go to any reputable local shop, it costs about $20-50 for assembly + some shops do stress testing. still better and cheaper than bestbuy alienware originpc prebuild imo.

for budget $1200 just go for cpu - ryzen 2xxx series, if 1080p 60 fps, gpu - nvidia gtx 1060 or amd rx 570 - done if you don't need the latest tech or 144hz

Had to buy a new monitor since the one I thought I could use was in use and since we're in easter week here, most shops close down the rest of this week so I had to buy something which they had in stock.
    Ended up buying the Dell S3220DGF, 165Hz 32" 2560x1440 FreeSync2.

Ended up with this because of the Hz, the resolution and the price.
I have 50 days keep-or-return it so I'll get to check if it's viable for (competitive) FPS which I mainly play.
It will also be extremely well suited for office work.

At work I usually use a U3415W and I don't really like to game FPSes on ultrawide.

    Edit:
COD Warzone I am seeing a huge performance hit playing at 2560x1440 with my GTX1080.
Dropping down to 90ish frames. If I overclock I get 120-140frames. I'll have to test a little bit more.

Looking to upgrade my current gaming PC by the end of the year. Pretty set on the parts, 200-250 dollars Ryzen, 250 dollars videocard, 32GB ram, 1TB SSD. Will have to check the specifics again in a few months when I order.

There's only one problem I'm running into. I'm not sure whether Amazon or Newegg can ship to Medellin, Colombia. Does anyone have experience with ordering PC parts from those site to South America?

Is there a sure way to verify whether or not some of my RAM slots are dysfunctional? I just assumed that two of the four slots weren't working when I bought another 8 gb RAM stick to compliment my other existing 8 gb stick, and found that two of the four slots wouldn't recognize the RAM (for both the new and old RAM stick).

Finally started using my PC enough to warrant a better card after selling my 2080 FTW3 to a friend awhile ago and getting a 980ti as a place holder. Holy **** this Aorus Xtreme 2080ti I picked up is dumb thicc. It actually came with a little stand to prop up the side of the card so it doesn't sag. Next step is maybe upgrading my 7700k I've had for a few years but not really sure yet. It seems crazy people are still selling them used for around $250 which is what I bought it for 2.5 years ago off someone.

Do you have them in the right slots?

I should, the PC recognizes 16 gbs of RAM in the system - unless there's something that I'm clueless about? It forces me to use single channel memory, because the two functioning slots are slots 1 and 2 (1 being the closest one to the CPU). I haven't tested the slots again since testing them a few weeks ago - maybe I should try again, but I'm wondering if there's a better way.

Typically slots 1 and 3 go together and 2 and 4 go together.

Certain MBs want certain slots used first. You MAY also have issues if the ram is clocked differently from your other stick.

The BIOS screen should give you some indicators.

Yeah I know - and I've heard that Ryzen CPUs thrive on faster memory speeds, so I feel like I'm losing a decent amount of performance increase because of this issue.

They're both DDR4-3000, but looking at their info on Thaiphoon, they have different Module Speed Grades and Die Density (among other things) - would it be a bad idea setting up an XMP profile in BIOS in this case? Or is that something different vs. manually changing memory speeds? I've read up on this a little bit but I'm still not really sure.

Try to get them to run dual channel and run the better stick at the latency and speed of your lesser stick by modifying your XMP in bios profile.

Might work. Mixing and matching memory doesn't always work well.

Thinking of a home PC build. Currently have R9 2900X and 2070 Super available, can swap slower parts in idling PC.

Bang for buck, what's a good match - mobo, m.2 SSD, PSU, Case, does not need to be flashy.

There's no such thing as a 2900x. Did you mean an R9 290x GPU, or were you referring to a CPU and made a typo? Is it a 2700X? Or a 3900X?

I mean I could build another, but doesn't make sense to me at this time with RTX 3000 around the corner. Not going to drop money on another 2080Ti when something better is coming along in ~5 months.

I'm not a super patient person though lol.
Worst case if I was to sell the 2080ti I'd probably still have no problem getting at least $700-$800 for it after RTX3000 series is out.

    Fuk it. Everything ordered
    2080ti
    3600x
    X570 mobo
    16gb 3200 ram
    1TB NVME
    34" 3440X1440 MSI monitor

Hngggggg CP2077 is going to look fuming sexy as fkkkkk on that setup
Edit: Dudes, there's not jack **** in stock as far as PSU's. Ended up having to buy a ****ing expensive ass EVGA 750 watt G3 because it was like the only thing I could find anywhere that had the extra 4 pin mobo power. Which I read 50/50 was and wasn't needed but rather be safe.
