    Taking First call tomorrow at new call center job! (nervous)

    Fuakk, I just finished 3 weeks of in class training but feel as I barely know what to do with the software. I am taking inbound calls for Cable, Internet and Home phone and tomorrow we will hit the phones, I just feel nervous because I feel like I wont know what to do when the customer asks to buy something or go review their bill.. Does anyone have any experiences and advice?

    I worked for one of the big TV providers in a call center a long time ago. These are the kinds of things that should have been covered by your trainer/training. Then again, my training was 8 weeks, with 1-4 weeks in a "training" team designed specifically for new employees with a 1-on-1 mentor before transition onto a normal team. You could listen to the mentor take calls, then slowly take them yourself until you basically don't need the mentor anymore.

    They're really releasing you without having ever taken a phone call? Just act like you know what you're talking about, avoid dead air, talk about stupid stuff to keep the customer distracted while you fumble through the application you use.

    Yeah man **** there was only in class training and now we are on ththe phones but have people that support us but fk I'm clueless on every call but at least there's some good looking girls here

    Yep... I did that job.

    Sold satellite tv, cable tv, phone, and internet.

    HORRIBLE job. So basically it works like this.

    1. People call in because they heard your misleading advert on XXXXX.
    2. You ask them what they actually want (without mentioning price because that tips them off.)
    3. You run their name and address.... (A lot will come back as ineligible because of failure to pay/return equipment.)
    4. You run a credit check. A lot of resistance here.
    5. You quote the promotional rate and make them do the math to figure out their bill will be 200 a month next year.
    6. Most will balk at this point and say. "I need to think about it".

    * You will call them daily for the next few weeks till they tell you to kill yourself.
