Crazy expensive order at Rogue for garage gym - please help prioritize

Some people buy motorcycles - I decided to build a garage gym as a mid-life present to myself. I’m considering placing this crazy expensive (as for myself) order. I am certainly overdoing it, but I don’t want to hear anymore suggestions “get couple of dumbbells first”, etc. Also, I want to avoid shipping charges. This is supposed to be the one-time, large gym order. Here is my shopping cart that I am working on for couple of months.

What would you remove? What would you add? Any other suggestions for building garage gym?

    Thanks,
    J.B.

Have you thought about maybe going with a few different manufacturers and save $$ then buy more toys. For example rep fitness dumbbells or thier cpr1 rack which is basically a clone of the monster rack from rogue.

Otherwise it looks good but if your going big time I would consider a extra bar so you can have one in the rack and others for outside the rack duty. I know it's a small thing but it would be nice (kinda like a deadlift jack)

Thanks a lot. I will think about additional bar.
5-50 lbs set from rep fitness is 550$ as opposed to 660$ at rogue. I know Rogue is somehow overpriced, but I may be able to avoid shipping charges.

i have the rogue monster rack and love it. i bought some safeties for the outside of my rack, i use them all the time for work outside of the rack. i suggest building a platform for your rack, costs a few hundred dollars but well worth it. If you're space constrained may want to consider power blocks for dumbbells. I started out with 1 bar, ended up with another because it got annoying moving it all the time. not sure what safeties you have for the rack, but i went with the strap safeties. i like them because it offers me a bit more room on the rack pillars because i can adjust the height to make room for other attachments.

Yes, I plan to get strap safeties as well. Also, I am planning to build the platform before placing the order.

also, i have a rogue game box. useful for setting dumbbells down during reps and resting during sets when working outside the rack. the adjustable j-hooks are easy to adjust, the mono lifts are a pain. they're heavy. so most likely you'll just leave them alone.

If you have the space, the money and the inclination to use all that equipment, then i look forward to the pictures you need to post when that stuff arrives.

you could save some money on shipping at the very least by waiting until black friday, but that's a long ways off.

I think the biggest thing is to make sure you plan to use all that stuff, otherwise it'll just collect dust. especially the smaller accessories you might really consider how much you're going to use them before you pay full price for them.

Have you thought about looking online for a better deal on any of this stuff on the used market?

and buy the full sized deadlift jack, not the mini

naw dawg go for the RM-6, that sweet UHMW, the option for swing in safeties...it's what i'd do if i bought rogue...

also maybe hold off on the dumbbells and check the used market? you might spend a little more and end up with a full set to 100

Im sorry dom, I'm going to have to go against you on a RM-6. I don't think it's worth the extra $800, to spend another $300 on swing-in safeties. In my opinion, the RML-690 is still somewhat overbuilt. Yes, if I had the money I would to, But the guy put a cap on his spending. He didn't come here and say he has a limitless amount to spend, what's the best of the best.

How much of this equipment have you tried out yourself and how much do you realistically think you'll use? Are you certain you want the landmine + accessories ($220 combined), curl bar + arm blaster ($250 combined), and mounted reverse hyper + roller ($870 combined!)? Do you need the bumper plates or will iron plates be fine? I noticed that the slim powerlifting competition plates are actually cheaper than the bumpers. If you've been around the block and know exactly what you want then go for it.

To echo others' thoughts, I'd hold off on the dumbbells + smaller accessories and see what you can find from other manufacturers or on the used market. I prefer pro-style dumbbells over rubber hexes, but they're not cheap. If you can find the space, I highly recommend a used commercial quality lat pulldown/low row. It can be super versatile and cover a variety of lat pulldown, seated row, tricep pushdown and bicep curl variations. Rogue sells a rack-mounted pulldown but good god is it expensive. I don't know why they don't offer a plate-loaded version to cut down on the cost a bit.

You know the RM6 comes with wrenches, 4 band pegs and 8 weight storage posts.

Thanks. One of the reasons for such a big order is no shipping costs for orders over 5K.

I like the RM-6 as well. I will look for used dumbbells. Thanks again.

    Thanks.
Obviously I am new and have not tried all that - otherwise I wouldn't be asking.
Unfortunately no more space for standalone pulldown. I will look for aftermarket dumbbells.

I like the Legend Fitness - my gym has their equipment. I even contacted them for some quotes, but they seem to be significantly more expensive than Rogue. I will look at American Barbell SS bar though.

    I used to do that.
I'd go to RogueFitness site and put all the things I'd like to have in the basket. Even if it was window shopping, I convinced myself I need most of those things.

It seems you have a lot of available space for the gym, and that's more valuable than money. Your budget is also sizeable, but unless you regularly use all of those accessories I'd trim a lot from that list, and put the money towards other items. You may even have enough money left for a decent bike.

    - Rack choice is Ok, but it will eat a lot of space. My preference for that price range is custom work, but there are a lot of other options.
    - Barbell is Ok if you're familiar with it. Just the one?
    - Bumpers are a waste of space and money unless you regularly do Oly lifts.
    - $1k for a bench is a lot. I chose a flat bench over an adjustable (pad gap), and haven't regretted it.
    - Dumbbells - like others said, put that on hold.
    - Hyper. Sure, if you use it regularly.
    - Get Mech6 monos. Don't ask why.
    - GHD - Get the Titan for half price.
    - Curl bar and Arm Blaster - double negative
    - Landmine and attachments - You need a lot of space around your large rack to use these. Would you use it once a week?
    - 50$ collars? Sure, treat yourself. There are these, though. www - a.co/aLNmKtO
    - The little things add up to a few hundreds.

My guess is that the appeal for you is to do a one-stop-shop and get all stuff at once and have it delivered together.
Nothing really wrong with that, but you better be certain that you know what you're getting and that it will be worth the money.
On the other hand, there is some fun to be had in assembling a home gym bit by bit, and it definitely opens more opportunities.

Short answer: trim all the non-essentials and put the money towards specialty barbells.

for the platform, i followed this guy's layout, assuming you have the room. A few tips: Weight mats can be found at tractor supply. Use 2 layers of plywood (not 1) and a top layer with mats and nice wood. He used 1 layer of plywood and it cause the two sections to be uneven. I'm OCD w/ those kind of things so adding the extra layer made it even.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gqlfWXdWVs

all the stuff will arrive in a huge semi-truck. it'll take about 3-4 weeks. expect one or two things to be damaged. rogue has excellent customer service and worked with me on any issues.

Thanks a lot. This is exactly what I planned to do. Some of my buying decisions base on his reviews.
I will consider using 2 layers of plywood instead of one.

    Exactly.
I realize I may be overpaying on some items, but I really don't want to spend on shipping.
    - bench - yes, I was considering fat, flat Rogue bench. I will not have space for two, but the price difference is about 600$ between flat and adjustable. I will think about it.
    - non-essentials - I already cut many things, and need to cut more.
    Thanks for very helpful information.
