What supplements should I be using?

    Hi all,

So, I have my gym routine set up following the GST program and also have my diet in check.

I am a complete noob when it comes to suppliments though. I literally have no idea what I should be taking.

I am 5ft 11, 150lbs and looking to gain muscle.

From looking at Google I am thinking I need - BCAAs, fish oil tabs, Creatine, protein but to be honest I have no clue so would appreciate if someone who knew what they were talking about could point me in the right direction. Just assume money is no issue, happy to buy whatever is needed

I have uploaded a pic of me incase it was relevant.

    Thanks all

I'd keep it simple. The key to gaining muscle mass is diet, and lifting weight. The diet and nutrition sections will provide the answers you need. I'd personally recommend a 5x5 program, founded on the big lifts, like squat, deadlift, bench, pullups, rows, dips.

As far as supplements, taking whey protein can make meeting your protein needs easier, and I like using a preworkout, because good ones make for better workouts. I'd be happy to send you samples of our new preworkout, as well as protein if we have samples available still. If you're interested, pm me your name/address/email.

You don't really "need" anything to put on muscle.
Perhaps you can begin by adding some Creatine to your daily intake: 5g will suffice.
A simple (monohydrate) Creatine and a decent multi maybe.

You will have to eat at a surplus and lift heavy, as well as get good rest in between the workouts, in order to gain muscle. If you can't eat enough calories in the form of food, you can try a gainer shake. Lots of deals going on in the store all the time.

Diet and training are what's going to yield results. Stay in a caloric surplus and make sure you're progressing in weight or reps on almost a weekly basis. Just keep is basic with supplements. A multi, fish oil, creatine, and protein powder. BCAA's I find to be most benefitial in a cut, not as much a bulk.

There are no supplements you need.

At your height and weight you definitely need to make sure your diet is on, with adequate calories and protein to gain weight and build muscle. And of course your routine has to be up to snuff.

No, you don't need BCAA, especially bulking, as a noob who doesn't know anything I would avoid that for now.

Creatine, get a basic monohydrate powder and take 5g a day every day, no loading no cycling, done.

Protein powder as needed to meet your daily protein goal.

Fish oil with high EPA/DHA for general health and for joints.

Optionally, multi vitamin. I'd go orange triad which is multi and joint

eat at a surplus, hit your macros, get quality rest, train hard.

that's all you need to do.

you can get a protein powder to help hit your protein macros, a multi-vitamin as a stop-gap for diet deficiencies, a fish oil, and maybe some creatine mono (at 3-5g a day) would be great.

preworkout, coffee, or caffeine tab if you need energy before your workout.

Thank you all for your inputs. Its really appreciated!

How do I know what my protein goals are? Should I get a basic whey protein or should I get something like 'Serious mass'?

Also, in terms of Macros etc. Is there a good website to read up on to what I should be hitting?
