    Lower back tightness

I have this when I sit or stand for long periods. I have tried a lot of different ways to loosen this up. I have noticed when I warm up on the elipticalit tends to go away could this be hamstring or hip flexor related. not painful just annoying.

    Is it lifting related?

I do sit ups after deadlifts and good mornings after squats, has made a world of difference for my lower back.
Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

Could also be your Gluteus Medius. Stretching throughout the day should help.

Try hanging on a bar and traction your low back.
Do some slow rotations with your hips.
Breath nice and slowly and relax.

i do the same with the good mornings and it has made a tremendous difference gaining a little strength in the back. I have degenerative discs in my low back, so i hop on the elliptical for 5 minutes before lifting weights. if it is a really bad day, i get on the precor stretch trainer, or hang over the hyperextension bench, helps get fluid going to the discs. "rag doll" pose helps if none of that is available.
