    Ripptoe, fierce 5, madcow, wendlers 531?

    Hi all
    I've searched previous threads and stickies and while I can find loads of info on all of these programs, I can't decide which one is best for me.
    I'm cutting at the moment but going to start bulking in the next few months and want to be 100% prepared so want to decide on my program now.
    Current weight 173lb, current lifts are: Bench 187 squat 242 and deadlift 330 (can deadlift more but scared to go higher just now as I hurt my back about 6 months ago and don't want to chance it while I'm in a calorie deficit. I'll be all in when I start to bulk!).
    Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Depends on what you have been doing but I would start with starting strength, or fierce five. Transition to 5/3/1 with BBB template when you start a surplus since you will have better recovery for that kind of volume. You will likely have to adjust your progression slower on some strength programs when dieting depending on years of training etc but I have no issue going in and grinding away week after week with little forward progress when dieting but I have a few years in. If your just starting out you will likely continue to see rapid strength gains while dieting, mostly neurological adaptations.
