So I read somewhere, sorry can't find the link to the article, that too much MCT oil can actually hinder weight loss when doing Keto. The explanation is that since MCT oil goes directly to your liver and provides you with energy, the body uses this instead of tapping into the fat stored in my body. I consume MCT oil in the morning with my protein shake and then again for lunch and dinner on my salads. In 8 weeks I have dropped 10 pounds but have completely plateaued at this weight and can't get any lower. Any thoughts about this "theory"?
Disclaimer: I am currently not working so my home life is very sedentary and I am not doing cardio at the gym but will be starting barbel complex 20min workouts 3 times a week.
My daily caloric intake is something like this right now: Totals 1,541Cal 43C 126F 68P 25Fiber
I am 38yo, 5'9", 176 pounds with about 22% body fat.

You say your daily caloric intake is "something like this".
Recheck all your weights and measurements for your foods.
You may be missing something or miscounting something.
Just to be sure your MCT oil is included in macros correct?
To answer your question MCT oil doesn't hinder weight loss.
Calories in has to be less than calories out. Simple as that.

Yeah, something like this. I meant I usually consume between 1550 and 1600 a day.
My maintenance is 2100 so consuming at 1600 and working out 4 times a week should be helping me drop weight but I have been the same weight for 3 weeks now. Gonna start HIIT training this coming week and see if that changes anything. Was concerned about the MCT oil due to what I read online, which you can't always trust.
And I measure all my food on a scale so it should be pretty spot on.

If your weight is the same for 3 weeks there are only a few possibilities.
1. Your maintenance is not 2100 cals.
2. Your maintenance is 2100 but there are a few hundred extra cals you are missing and you are eating more than 1600. Oils, even the spray kind, sauces, something. Etc.
3. Your body is really holding onto water and you may lose 3 lbs soon. 3lbs is nothing when it comes to water weight. And 3lbs would be your fat loss for 3 weeks with a 500 cal deficit. So it's not like there would be a major scale swing anyways.Last edited by TK401; 03-13-2017 at 11:59 AM.
