It SOUNDS like the sacroiliac joint shifted or "sublaxated" but I am not a PT. I've had similar issues and live with chronic back pain till this day. I've had x-rays, but am going to get an MRI. Sublaxation of the SIJ is the only thing I can find that typically leads to a "twisted" pelvis.
Ab stretches and glute stretches have been the most helpful.

@comicfire - how are you now? What were the results of your MRIs did you have no disc issues whatsoever? You keep saying my PT determined this and that, but they are not medical doctors so not quite sure how they can give you a medical diagnosis...more like just advice.
I have a similar cervical situation, however have 2 bulging discs, no herniations, but neck has been sore for nearly 6 weeks, probably due to chronic strain from working a desk job and aggravated from power lifting tires - bad idea. Hopefully it will heal someday, just starting physiotherapy but have been on and off of naproxen for weeks, sometimes there is no pain just tightness, have to lie down a lot on a hard floor which helps...aargh
