Thinking of investing in a soybean company. Here’s my thinking; there’s currently a trade war between US and China but China is America’s biggest exporter of Soybeans and deep down, both Trump and Xi know a deal is beneficial. So even though we may not see a deal right away, eventually, it’s inevitable. And when the trade war ends, exports and hopefully share price will jump. Secondly, Soybean is a hot commodity right now; the rise of veganism along with the move towards biodiesel means soybean companies are in demand more than ever. As I understand it, ADM is one of the US’s biggest soybean companies, they’ve just made an acquisition of Gleadell to enhance their UK presence and there’s rumours of a merger with another giant called Bunge. The latter has been on the cards for a few years now and recently an exec said ‘the time for the monstrous merger isn’t right now’, so it’s clearly on the cards and will more than likely happen in the next few years. Taking all this into account, I’m very interested in an investment.

Hey guys, I am a self employed and have my own S-Corp. Based on all the tax info, I can no longer contribute to a Roth IRA nor do I get the deduction for a Traditional IRA. That being said, with the $6k I can contribute to a traditional, I can put into my SEP IRA but then only about $3k more on top of that (roughly). I would rather open a Solo 401(k) plan to dump more money into than the $9k into a SEP. That is why I am looking at a Solo K plan. Now, I have my current accounts through a broker since I wanted to help a buddy out. No complaints with them at all but I just want to have some access/control over my accounts and make trades whenever I want without calling and placing the trade through them. I am looking at TD Ameritrade for doing a Solo K but want to get others inputs so I don't miss anything in the thought process. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

people do it all the time dude. if you think for example, a company will do well in an upcoming earnings report then buying a stock before it blows up a few weeks later is a common strategy. a guy at my previous work bought FB stocks when a scandal hit and flipped em a few weeks later.

The view on soybeans is a tough one to make and overly superficial imo. You have a view on the demand side, but what about the supply side? More importantly, playing direct commodity views through equities generally isn't an optimal approach for views on a commodity. Most corporates will be hedging their exposure to spot moves in the futures market so they wouldn't see as big of a tailwind from large moves in the underlying, hence even if you get your view correct you might not reap the gains playing the theme via this implementation.

great points from both of you. And that's exactly what the US has been doing; with China out of the picture they've been exporting more to Europe instead. Also last month the EU approved US soybeans for biofuel use, previously it was just for animal feed so soybean oil byproduct had to be shipped back because Europe did not allow it to be used for fuel. Now it's approved: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-u...-idUSKCN1PN1GT
Maybe im over simplifying the industry but surely im not the only one seeing where the industry is heading? If I make an investment it will be for the long term, I don't see this as a short-medium term investment due to the nature of the industry.Laughing at your team since 2008.

Could someone recommend me a stock or stocks to diversify my portfolio with? Currently I have two tech stocks, one AMD another a Big Data company, and two cannabis stocks. I'm thinking biotech, transportation of goods, or any other nascent industries that may be taking off. Any thoughts appreciated.A hit was sent, from the President, to raid your residence /

I've redownloaded windows 10 about 10 times. I called contact support and yelled at 5 different representatives who keep trying to tell me there is no picture associated with this post. I know Stevesteve12 wouldn't lie about proof or forgo it altogether. I'm omw to the apple store to get a mac.
