Oh wow, well if it's just that simple math please aware me on how to use it. I can't wait to become a billionaire using that one simple trick.
Anywho, anyone else loading up puts? Glad I bought some at the highs on Friday. I usually post DJIA numbers, but I picked up puts on SPY. Targets are 258, 250, and then 228. Will be buying the fuk out of everything on a DJIA break below 21600 and close above.

No tricks.... just likelihood of stocks moving a certain distance in a certain amount of time. But no worries, just keep making your outrageous predictions that never come true.
If you predict a 3 deviation move 100 times.... it will happen like 3 times and won't 97 times. That math actually does come out to be true. Not saying it is some formula to make money. Every option is priced accordingly.Last edited by romajc; 01-23-2019 at 12:40 PM.

Put in 11k few months ago was up to 14k last month. Balance currently $62.
Disregarded a lot of rules I’d set for myself. (Diversifying & getting out of losing hand we’re big ones I ignored) My own greed and stubbornness rekt me.
There was no reason for the huge dump in Dec and even less reason for this half ass rally going on now. But we live in a time of Idiocracry when a dumass Tariff Man can shutdown the gov for a month with no recourse. Putting blinders on and ignoring the market, news, & politics is working out a lot better for my health & sanity.

Bro my account fukking blew up when I was holding options that were up 1500-4000% between Nov. 2017 and Jan 2018. Then I wrecked my account in February and also again in October/December. Clawing back up but it's hard man. I always set a reserve of cash that I never let myself trade with just in case I lose 100% of my open positions.

^ going from 14k to $62 is harsh, I still have yet to trade options because of this reason, options are quite intimidating
Anybody here using the 20% cash rule? I was...lol

Pretty much consolidated all week and still failed to get near 25000. Tested and closed below a resistance TL that's been in effect since the ATHs. Panic week is coming up into mid-February. Targeting 21600 with a swift break below (20,800???) and still close above 21600 to signify a bottom.

Random discussion: I know its far away, but im curious to hear all of ya'lls opinion on the 2020 election and how it will effect the market if trump wins again vs a democrat winning?
or will it be irrelevant? Maybe just a very short term spike/crash depending on the outcome, then no real difference?
(Only reason I ask is because I plan on cashing out and paying off all of my mortgages in about 3 years)

I've given up even trying srs. Decided to focus on my career + having a life instead of trying to hit it big with the market/options. I was putting in far too much time with not much to show for it other than a couple of pure luck calls that went my way. I've made solid career gains the last couple months though so hopefully I can compound it down the line with a move up to corporate. Who knows.

We are about to squeeze higher IMO.
If earnings are decent shorts could get wrecked here.
The big up move in gold is a little odd tho. Probably more volatility in the months to come. You can walk outside and listen to all kinds of talk, get told you're a god or a total bastard. I'm seeing too much enthusiasm/high hopes for earnings this week. Probably not a good sign as any sort of slight miss will tanks us.

what was the rationale of making a directional bet on JNJ?
You just go all in and don't hedge at all? you're nuts man, lol.
LOL at people in this thread chit talking leveraged ETFs when they play options. I like leveraged ETFs, quick and easy to hedge yourself if you get it wrong just buy the inverse. You can walk outside and listen to all kinds of talk, get told you're a god or a total bastard. fuark the market is brutal. Hang in there bro.. let this be a lesson learnt. You have years ahead of you. Failure is a part of the lesson but it's by no means the end point. Notice how successful businessmen don't talk about their successful business when they're out having dinner together, they always talk about how many businesses failed.
