Alas I think rising interest rates are indicative of great opportunity. When the opportunity well dries up so to speak people start hoarding money and asset values tend to drop. What is the point of assets if their value drops easily and you can start making better money just lending the cash you have on hand? Monetary policy doesn't dictate market trends, I think monetary policy is more reactionary when utilized correctly. Technically speaking it can pump the economic breaks before greed gets too out of hand and can stop the market from peaking too high and alternatively it can help prop the market up and help ease a market bottom.Originally Posted by Venom08

QE was a massive failure. The low interest rates never made it back to the consumer, it got only into the hands of the bankers and governments. There was no inflation, nothing good except create this sovereign debt crisis. Rates are literally at HISTORIC lows, Europe even has negative interest rates ffs. I'm gonna go on a limb and say this will destroy the government bonds market and cause a flight of capital into the private sector leading to a rise in stock market prices.
Also, central banks/powers clearly have no control over the markets and economies. At the end of the day Adam Smith's Invisible Hand rules over them and no Fed or whatever will be able to stop the huge spike in rates that's coming.
