Thumbs up Hello all. I humbly ask for help in improving my quality of life...

Hello everyone. Im new here, just signed up. I am BradThor. I was told of this place by a friend. Im hoping you can help(more so guide, im gunna do the physical part).

To start, a little background on myself. I am 29 years old, 6'4" and I fluctuate between 300-320 pounds. I have always been a chubby ****, but lately Ive blown up to a complete fatass. To male matters worse, I am having monthly gout flareups and I have a brain injury resulting in epileptic seizures... Resulting in my joints and muscles getiing beat up pretty bad.

Im here to get some quality in my life. Its almost impossible to play with my nieces and nephews on the floor for more than 5 minutes before **** starts hurting. And they are my life. My purpose. I need to be here for them for a long time... I do not wanna be one if those people that get a heart attack in their 30s and keel over.

Im gunna have to take it slow at first. And Im here asking you guys and gals for some guidance, some help. I promise I will give everything I have and I WILL stick with it.

I know you have helped transformed lives on here. My friend showed me a transformation video of a kat on here who was like 5 or 6 hundred pounds and with your guys help he got down to the 200s.

Obviously my case isnt as drastic as his... But I promise to give everything much like he did.

I originally posted this in misc... Because I ate a lot of lead paint chips apprently... I was redirected here.

I am asking for help.... Any help at all. I cannot continue down this path. My nieces and nephews( i am my mothers care taker so there is that too... She needs me to be healthy and happy) are my life. Im their favorite person( they will have to adapt to me not doing the jelly roll or truffle shuffle) and it would kill me if I died of a heart attack and leave them too soon. Well, it would kill me twice I guess.

    Thank you all

The first step is to read the stickies in the forums on nutrition to get an understanding of how it works, but the general idea is...

    1. Eat at a 500 calorie deficit (To do this you must know what your current maintenance calorie consumption is per day... Mine is 2300, so I eat 1800 calories a day. That's -500 a day equating to -3500 a week, which also equates to 1 pound of body fat being dropped weekly).

    2. Weight train at least 3 times a week. Don't overdo it, start small and lift what you can, until gradually lifting more. Doing anything is fantastic, but try for full body workouts that hit just about every muscle group. A 35-45 minute workout 3x times a week should be sufficient.

    3. Keep your protein intake up. You want your current muscle to plateau and stay steady while your overall body fat drops down due to your calorie deficit.

I use an Excel spreadsheet to track my daily calorie consumption and MyFitnessPal to workout how much is in what I eat. But again, read the stickies and the forums,

    Good luck!

The first step is to read the stickies here. The biggest key to fat loss is calories in must be less than calories out. As long as you eat fewer calories than you burn, you'll lose weight. To get a baseline, I recommend you start with the sticky thread about calculating macros (sorry, I don't have enough posts to give you a link yet).

Personally, I have been using the "MyFitnessPal" app on my phone/iPAD to track how many calories I'm eating each day. Every person is different, but this has been a huge help for me and I've slowly been learning what foods I should be eating and which ones I should be avoiding (I just realized yesterday, for instance, that the 'healthy' italian vinaigrette dressing in my fridge has MORE calories and less protein than the low-fat ranch dressing).

Weight/resistance training will also really help to build muscle and burn fat, although it sounds like your body may restrict you on that a bit. I'd suggest looking into what exercises you can do using just your own body weight, and work up from there - simple movements like lunges, squats, push ups, planks, etc can be done at home with minimal (if any) equipment and help you start shedding pounds.

Here is that link to the sticky I mentioned above: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=173439001

I'm sure some others with a whole lot more knowledge and experience than me will be along shortly, but I figured I'd give my $.02 (warning: it is overpriced!) as a fellow newbie that has been at this for about a month or so. Trust me when I say that the initial hunger pangs and wondering how you're going to function on your target number of calories WILL get better in a week or two if you stick with it and focus on hitting your minimum fat and protein numbers each day.

Also, get a kitchen scale so you can weigh your food in order to figure out how many calories you are eating. Make sure to count beverages, sauces, and condiments along with everything else. If you eat or drink it, track it!
