I wonder if that carry handle is intended for upright rows.....I've occasionally seen people doing upright rows with the cheaper hex bars like I have, grabbing the sides of the frame gives a pretty good angle.
They said the handle is there to make it easier to move around and store. The version pictured weighs 135 pounds, although they have a lighter version that uses thinner tubing.

I'm not sure I would want to lug around and store away a very large and awkward shaped bar that weighs that much.

Added these to the collection. I've got 2 full olympic sets, one inside, one outside. DB's 25-30-40-60 now. I'd like to get 35-50-70 next.

In my area I am still not seeing a lot of dumbbells on Cragslist or Offer Up yet. The pricing on dumbbells and kettlebells that do come up is still higher than pre-covid. I have been looking for York round heads.

If York survives the pandemic I'd just buy a set of the York Legacy db's.

Why buy an inferior product @ boated vintage prices if they still make them new?

The hunt for vintage equipment is part of the fun. Not quite as much fun as finding a good deal. Fortunately I enjoy the visits to Play It Again Sports and yard sales looking for it.

That's how I feel about vintage stuff these days, but does York even sell the Legacy dumbbells anymore? They aren't listed on their site anymore, though the Legacy iron plates are.

Would be a shame if they stopped selling them, they were a decent value if you wanted a full set of fixed db's

Are the York Legacy plates and dumbbells manufactured in the USA? I will have to check them out. I am an old guy and part of my affection for vintage stuff is because I remember it from younger days.

Probably not, likely they are made overseas like most of what you see on the market today.

But by today's standards vintage 'Made in USA' in many cases is lower quality than modern 'Made in China'. (sadly)

This thread has definitely been quieter during the pandemic. I picked up this seated Body Masters calf raise today for a great price, including a 45# plate. I know standing is better than seated for calf’s, but I could not pass up the deal. I’ll do some clean up and maybe recover the pads in blue.

I usually don’t talk $, but I paid 100 including the 45 pound plate. I already have the blue vinyl so I’ll probably make some new covers. Just need a bumper for the weight horn and maybe some new tube caps, although I think I have some. Reps for you too.

$100 for that and the plate is fantastic. That's a great seated calf and it's in great condition to boot.

Hey Eric, that's a steal, at current market prices the plate is worth the purchase price on it's own. Bodymasters made some great equipment and that piece looks to be no exception.

Thanks, the benefit of not being able to sleep in the middle of the night. It is a tank. Yes I might have to sell the slightly rusted cap 45# plate.

Nice pickup. I'm not any kind of calf raise connoisseur but I've used this model BodyMasters and I really liked it. I haven't found one I like better.

The first commercial gym I joined was all done in BodyMasters. Even to this day a few of those pieces remain as my favorites and none were horrible (their leg press is one of them).

I'm looking for an opinion on this type of Leg Press machine.

I've never used one like this, and I'm considering a unit that is for sale.

    How's the ROM?
How does it compare to the usual type of Leg Press where the seat slides back?
The one I'm looking has 80kg stack. Is that enough?

I'll probably go to check it out, although it's a 3h round trip.

Unless you're a pre-teen girl or 75+ yr old woman, you're going to need more than an 80kg stack on a leg press machine.

Well, I guess he got his opinion!

For the record, I agree. I'd look for something better.

I've used this same style Leg Press. Not a fan if you're going to use it for actual leg pressing. The ROM kind of sucks and will suck even more if you don't allow your ass to round off of it. I'm not a fan of leg pressing in general b/c it aggravates my lower back issues so take that for what it's worth. What i do love this type of leg press for is calf raises. We have one from Hoist and i've found it to be great in that regard.

    Thanks.
That pretty much confirms my assumptions.
It's probably the reason why only two or three manufacturers make this style of Leg Press. I've never seen it in a gym.

I'm looking for a horizontal leg press because squats do very little for my stork legs at best of times. I've torn an Achilles tendon last year, and that also carries some limitations.

Gods forgive me, but I selfishly hope that public gyms will close due to the virus, and I can buy some of their equipment.

Ever been on a Flex/Startrac or Nebula Hack Squat? I'm kinda long-legged and I used to do a lot of bar squatting but had to give them up due to back issues. In terms of machines/pieces, the Flex Hack and a Zane Leg Blaster have been great for me. I do other things with dumbbells and bodyweight but in terms of equipment purchases, those were two pieces for my lower body that i hold in very high regard. I had a Paramount Pendulum Squat too at one point and it hammered my quads well but put a bit too much pressure on my lower back at the bottom of the movement (i used to go hams to calves).
