Just got around to installing another gunrack barbell holder i picked up from titan. i was surprised that they included mounting hardware. I need to bring back my crepinsek SSB, then i have spot for one more bar, probably a female bar for my wife.

Also put up some wall control peg boards. I'm going to put a rod underneath the shelf to put my paper towel roll on, and figure out what else i want to put on there.

This one is for my low row attachments. I need to get a long peg for my fat grip v-handle, and maybe put my loading pins up there also. I need some more carabiners also.

    Dem feels...

Bought my son his first barbell and plates.

He's 8 and wants me to train him...dem feels again...

Troy 6' Al bar. 28mm weighs 18lbs on my scale With my ivanko cot-1.25's I'll call it 20lbs. No center knurl. About 15" center. 31.5" knurl marks so about 1/2" shy of standard PL marks. 51 3/4" between collars. Pinned sleeves with bushings. Supposed to be 300lbs capacity.

The knurl is actually really nice medium knurl. Feels great in the hands. We did bench and deadlifts with it tonight. Got a couple 10lbs troy bumpers to go with it.

Perfect knurl for him to start with

Was helping the Equipment King out yesterday with a run and was rooting through the barn (seriously, who uses York deepdish on a sled? And has a pile that are designated "bar deepdish"?) and found this interesting guy, a knurled fat bar sleeve that was slid onto a bar. Never saw one before. Came home with me, not sure what I am going to do with it, but it's kinda cool.

That's great he wants to train with you, enjoy your time together. In a blink of an eye he'll be grown and on his own, hopefully the time training with you will stick with him.Two of my sons lifted at home for awhile, but they're out on their own now , however, the youngest still lifts fairly regularly but he's in N Africa, so a little too far to lift together.

Slight tangent: based on your experience/knowledge what's a good age for kids to work with weights? i was under the impression that kids should still with bodyweight stuff until about 11-12.

I'm sure IGP will chime in, but from what I have read there is conflicting information out there. Some doctors would say 12-14 while others have claimed it safe all the way down to 5-7 years old if done in moderation. Personally I will not allow my children to touch weights until they are at least 10 years old, my daughter (7) has been doing BW stuff and really seems to enjoy it. My son on the other hand is as lazy as they come (10), I'm hoping once he starts chasing skirts he will realize the benefits of having a commercial gym in his home

Hi, I know that question wasn't directed toward me. However, I can say that the age doesn't really matter. What does matter?

It all comes down to one thing: Does the kid think it's fun? Do they really want to lift some weights because they're having a blast? If so, go for it. If they're having to be pressured into it--- too young/not ready.

In some cases, a very young kid may see his Dad lifting, and want to be 'cool and strong' like his Dad. This is where very easy introductions into lifting can be beneficial. IE- make a fun competition about who can do the most Bodyweight squats in 30seconds-1min or something to that extent. Bodyweight stuff... Then an intro to a PVC Pipe for lifts. Then an intro into a women's barbell, for example. Or tiny kettlebells.. Progressive overload, while ENSURING that the child is having a lot of fun.

It's more related to maturity, ability to focus and follow direction, and desire than causing physical damage...this is similar to the old "squatting will hurt your knees" that's been around forever. As far as heavy singles and maximum ballistic lifts, that's the real consideration but moderate intensity stuff on compound lifts should be fine.

My knowledge certainly isn't from a professional view point , but , all the information I've seen supports what has been posted above. Bodyweight stuff, moderate weight and upper rep ranges. My 10 year old grandson was here today due to school being canceled and came down while I was lifting and wanted to workout. I had him doing pullups, some light dumbell squats and a few very light DB presses and curls and he loved it Hopefully he'll keep that desire.

Hopefully he does. He could inherit a killer setup from pap some day.

Nice! I tried the garage gym last year but when it dropped to single digits I could deal with it. Had to move my stuff to the basement this year

Thanks, I tore open the cable attachment and greased it up, now i need to work on the rust that is all over the curl bar. Found them lodged in an attic type area of an old powerlifting/body building gym that was shutting down.

Also, went to go pick up what looked like to be an american barbell bar for $70, not sure which model but the pick looked like it had the blue endcap and center knurling. Go to pick it up and the guy hands me a ****ty no name chinese bar. I call him out and he said he just used the pic of the last barbell he sold. I thanked him for wasting my time and gas and told him next time use a picture of what you're actually selling. He then says "good luck finding an american barbell bar for $70". Like i'm the *******?

How is the sleeve attached to the bar? Knurled all the way ?
