I got this for my son. For some reason he is told to train only Trap bar for DL. So thought it will be useful for him and his younger brother.
As per Gerard TB i think it was on sale in New Haven , CT area . Asking price was less than $100 around $80 i think. I just did not want to drive that far.[M]===[6]▪ Mech6 Crew #35 ▪[M]===[6]

Out of all of the fitness companies I have dealt with, thus far Vulcan has had the worst customer service. I had an issue with a damaged item (damaged before being shipped as box had no damage) and essentially got the "too bad" response from them. Long story short, a supervisor stepped in and told me I could deal with it or ship the stuff back at my own expense. The bar was decent quality, but s*itty customer service is usually a deal-breaker for me.

I've caught a few killer deals, but I spend a lot of time checking Marketplace and have had to be extremely flexible with the seller. You want me there at 7AM on a holiday and you're 3 hours from me? Sure! Love to! This particular buy was up in CT and I had to be up at 5AM and take time from work to get up there. It was worth it though.

Cyrus at Vulcan comes off as a dick, but they do honor warranties. I purchased an Elite Training bar and the sleeves did not spin very well. Cyrus told me that the bars are built with such strict tolerances that it takes some time for it to break in. I do not do Olympic lifts and only wanted it to deadlift with.Needless to say it got better, but he sent me a new bar(updated version) and let me keep the old bar. It eventually did break in and I have 2 $370 bars for the price of one.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this. I received a bar that was functional, but looked like it had been banged around a commercial gym and left out in the rain for a few weeks before I received it. I figured they must have accidentally sent me one of the clearance bars. I contacted them about it and they replied telling me how to clean up (remove rust, refinish, etc.) the new bar I had just received the day before. I replied that I paid for a new bar, not a used one and then was told I could ship it back at my own cost. I'm not hard to deal with. I would have been satisfied to simply get credited the ~$15 difference between the new and clearance bar. Instead I got the proverbial middle finger.

My one experience with Vulcan. Wanted to get an out of stock item. Sent an e-mail to see if they knew it would be in stock (was going to be a Bday gift for my son).
They never replied back but added me to their e-mail distribution list. When the item finally came back in stock the price, just coincidentally doubled.{5'7" and under #1}

Ultimately, I did file a dispute and the bank found in my favor in less than 48 hours, which means Vulcan has demonstrated a pattern of behavior that is not in accordance with their merchant agreement. I still tell people their bars are pretty nice for the money, but I always caution them that if there's a problem it's unlikely to be resolved without a fight.

Imo, this is the kind of stuff that needs to be posted every time someone asks about a Vulcan product. This also one of the reasons I like to buy locally whenever possible. If I have a problem, I can deal with it in person. Company reps/employees rarely display the same attitude and BS in person that they dispense via email or on the phone."What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

I bought the full priced ez curl bar(not the discounted blemish bar) and it arrived with what looks like spray paint on the inner part of the sleeve collar - on one side only. Haven't tried removing it yet since I really don't care.. just something they should have caught in QC. Love the bar though. I use it at least 2-3 times a week. The sleeves do have some lateral play though and has removed some oxide coating on the shaft.
Only complaint I have with customer service is that I emailed about the closeout power bar and asked if it was a V2... They said they think it is but didn't confirm so they lost that sale.Last edited by dagdafitness; 02-29-2020 at 07:21 AM. Reason: Forgot a t

Replaced the old Powertec this weekend, with a Body-Solid leverage gym that I found locally. Came with about 345lbs of BS plates, and the typical BS bench. The machine is practically brand new, maybe used a handful of times from the look of it. So far compared to the Powertec I'm pleasantly surprised at how much better this one performs. The top pulley system allows for a full stretch and the longer leverage arm and lower flat plate make it compatible with any adjustable bench. After selling off the old machine and weights I broke even, once the bench sells I'll be +$100 and a free machine. Not bad for a couple hours of work
Also, those BS rubber coated weights were fantastic. Was tempted to keep them but I promised the wife a zero dollar transaction so I kept my word. But man I almost liked those better than my REP plates and my son tried to talk me into a total swap out. Probably for the best that I got them out of the house quickly! Haha

Nice!
About the plates, I did the total swap out, but with the colored plates. Some of the easiest to handle and nicest plates I have ever used. The inner metal sleeve fits perfect on bars. My wife squawked at first, but after using them, likes them too.Last edited by Greybird2; 03-01-2020 at 04:13 PM.

No bearings, smooth pin through a fixed bushing welded into the machine. The weights were nice though, only thing that would have annoyed me is that they didn't push together flush. But I 100% agree, easy to handle and the grip felt like it was made for my hand. Total swap out would have cost me a good bit so it's probably for the best.

Picked up a knockoff of the Hampton trap bar for $80. Like the one seen here: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showt...4913711&page=1
I also upgraded the crappy bluetooth PA speaker with a Yamaha DBR 12" speaker that I got for $260.

Well damn... there was one for sale near me for awhile (similar deal, like $400 with bench and weights) that I almost pulled the trigger on a few times... Now I'm wishing I would have. Didn't realize the arms were longer...My personal motto is Better than Yesterday. This defines who I am, my view of the world, and my goals in life.
