Back after a year to update everyone!! Guess what guys!! I did it!!! From 265lbs to 188lbs!!! I went from 265lbs 45%bf to 188lbs and 15%bf and only getting better, planning on competing in the Fall!!! Totally goes to show, if you want something bad enough you can do it! I now sprint, play Golf, Tennis, Soccer, got my entire life back, nothing feels better than fitting into size 32 jeans from size 44, my life has changed so much, everything has just become the best it ever was. I'm 36 years old and in the best shape of my life. I didn't take any juice, any gear, nothing, not even creatine...just protein powder as a supplement.

I went from benching 95lbs last year when I started to benching 275lbs for reps....best decision I ever made was getting back into the gym...now it's just a lifestyle

Here are before and after shots, one year apart, remember I am still working on leaning out so not putting on much muscle right now, once I hit 175lbs which will be another 2 months, I'll start bulking up. Goal is 195lbs at 10%bf and I will easily get there This proves, it's never too late to change your life baby!!!

Great work, what you're doing is exactly the reason so many people are here. Keep updating as you go.If
When you do start to bulk, bulk slowly don't just relax and let go of all the hard work. Your results so far are fantastic and can't have come easy so look after them (so when switching to bulk, increase the cals slowly as you ease into the bulk to see their effect)

Thanks for the advice, ya I'll be increasing slowly, not going to just smash it up to 4000cals, thinking maybe start at around 2200cals and work it from there. What sucks is there is a bit of excess skin laying around, gotta see how I can get rid of that.

How closely do you monitor calorie intake? If you stop losing fat then you're either not being as compliant as you think or you've misjudged your caloric needs (which can certainly decrease over time with prolonged weight loss). From the sounds of it, the first phase of your weight loss has been a recomp, which means you were losing fat and gaining lean mass at the same time. You may have been able to consume more calories during that period than you'll be able to after the initial lean gains have been acquired, so you may need to start reducing calorie intake. If you haven't been tracking food intake meticulously, I would probably start there to see what you're really getting.

As for Keto, the general reason for going that route would be if it helps you to be compliant with overall energy balance and/or you feel better on it. The primary driver of fat loss is going to be overall energy balance, not the type of foods you eat (assuming adequate protein intake). So if you have trouble staying compliant on your current diet, or feel hungry and crappy all the time, a keto diet might be better for you but you would have to try it.

OK, I had to carefully compare the most recent pics with the original pics from 2017 to make sure the OP wasn't frauding. I could not believe it was the same person!

Would be really interested to know what your nutrition and lifting routine was like over the last few years to make that transformation.

Hey man. Thank you for the kind words, as well as everyone else. Essentially I used the same behavioural traits that caused my weight gain to counteract it - I can be an obsessive eater and just obsessive in general, so I just became obsessed with training, I to this day wake up every morning and do fasted cardio for 30mins, then I do the 5x5 program for my strength training and supplement it with some accessory movements for more of an attack on individual muscles, for the rest of the day I do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or boxing once per day Monday to Friday as well, normally in the evenings. My caloric intake is around 3000-3200 per day and I seem to have stabilized at 170lbs, my lowest was 149lbs but I didn't have a lot of muscle. It's just constant work man, I'm sure you know as well. You kinda just gotta want it, build a lifestyle around being an athlete and give the same commitment you gave to eating a box of donuts to doing your training lol

Thanks for everyone's support though, this thread kept me accountable AF!!!!
