Wink Book comparison: Eric Helms, Aworkoutroutine, Greg Nuckols

    Hi,

I came across three sets of books for knowledge about lifting (muscle gain) and nutrition.

    1. Eric Helms:
Muscle and Strength Pyramid - Nutrition
Muscle and Strength Pyramid - Training

    2. AWorkoutRoutine.com:
    Superior Fat Loss
    Superior Muscle Growth

    3. Greg Nuckols (Stronger by Science):
    The Art of Lifting
    The Science of Lifting

Have any of you looked at all 6 books?
    Which do you like best?

    Thanks.

I got Gregs books a few years ago. They were very good in the sense that it puts what's important right up front and doesn't dwell too much on things that don't matter much (but are the kind of things that people endlessly debate on forums...). However, if you are looking for exact routines and diet plans, you won't get that, you have to learn the underlying principles and then implement them for yourself. i like this approach but it doesn't suit everyone.

I haven't read Eric's books but would have a high degree of prior confidence that they are quality.

pretty similar, more science bloat/info in Erics unsurprisingly, several example routines as well.
And he has the whole nutrition book of course so lot more detail and varied approaches, supplements etc compared to Gregs

Greg's is all you need to know about training in as few words as needed.

Eric goes further into explaining the science, and lot further into the nutrition, more scholarly less necessary for a lot but good stuff.

a workout routine is neither of those things

Eric's books are top quality. Highly recommended.

Bloat? No way. Just solid info with appropriate references.

Haven't read Greg Nuckols' books but he tends to be more into strength/PL than into BB.

Bloat was in appropriate. More to digest was what I meant, in neither a negative or positive context as it depends what the reader wants.

Greg is definitely more strength orientated, but I wouldn't say more powerlifting focused. If anything Eric is more specific about powerlifting.

Some programs for PL but most of the book is aimed at BB imo.

I agree, this is still more than Greg touches on it, really his only words on it are a power ifter needs to squat , bench, and deadlift within those 2 books.

Any chance you can comment on the book "Never Binge Again" - is it science based and well researched like Eric's?

    Thanks.
