Got PS4 pro last month. Been playing Bloodborne and UC4. Also have last of us remastered.

Just preordered Nioh though. Something to be said for playing a new game at the same time as everyone else. Am excite. Also digital foundry saying it mostly hits 1080 60 fps in 'action mode' on the pro 720ish @ 60 on the regular PS4 i think. Though technically dynamic resolution for both . Should be fun.

Edit: there are two other modes - one with resolution up to native 4K levels I think at least when pixel counting but I don't have a 4K display. Hope more pro releases target 1080 60fps. It's cool to have that option until I do pick up a 4K tv this year

Nier is the spiritual successor to bayonetta (lol at wii u) and the demo was sick. Horizon is looking siiiiiick, very good impressions so far from all the previews. very fukn surprised a company used to fps is doing so well. Nioh also has potential, i think it differentiates itself enough from DS. damn this year is j00cy.

People who only own xbox don't like games, I would imagine. I have all three, and my xbox is tied with Wii U for played least. Actually, I play my Wii U more because I love Super Mario Maker.

Dude, Resident Evil 7 took my 9 hours to beat and it was worth every penny. Maybe I'm old (actually I KNOW I'm old), but I used to pay that much for games that took 1 hour to beat. So this concept is strange to me.

Really? I never played Bayonetta but to me, Nier was more like Legend of Zelda with a dark, twisted, ****ed up story line.

That's a fairly mechanical way of looking at it. That's how you end up with games that are good but like 3 hours too long just to fill out time.

There are a few exceptions... But I'm not about to pay $60 for a 10 hour video game. If it's good, and just has an extra 3 hours tacked on, I'm not complaining. But $60+ for a 10 hour game? It better have some darn good replay value, or that seems like a rip off. Again, that's just my view of game/cost ratios.

I look at it more like games are as cheap as they've ever been. Especially when you adjust for inflation. I feel like I used to pay 50 growning up for some 3-5 hour type chit. Maybe I'm wrong. I generally feel like if I enjoyed the game it was worth the price. Though these days I don't buy a ton of games so maybe that's just the reason

So do you only see movies that are 8 hours long? You know, because of your $ to time ratio you've devised?

Apples to oranges, but I average 1 movie a year in theaters, and only if it's part of a series I am already invested in @$11 per Imax 3D movie.


So maybe 1 movie a year comes out I would even consider watching in theaters, vs 10-20+ games launch a year that I might consider. So I would rather just wait for the game to go on sale down the road, then pay full price for a subpar length game.




The beauty of it all... No one is trying to convince you that you should also do that, or that you are wrong for spending your money however you want. I was just saying that that ratio is bad to me.

RE was worth it. It worked well to multiple playthroughs, madhouse switches around all the item and enemy locations, and it's the first game in a long time to have old school unlocks (beat the game get a badass pistol and hardest difficulty, beat hardest difficulty for infinite ammo, beat the game in 4 hours get a chainsaw, etc...). RE7 has pretty good replayability just like RE1.

After a lot of mulling it over and some convincing from my best friend, I eventually relented and pre-ordered the deluxe edition on PSN.

Preordered RE7 and Nioh from Best Buy with GCU and $25 off Visa Checkout deal. Ended up costing 71+ tax for both.

Nah it doesn't. But it did have a bunch of playable alphas and betas I think. Also the reviews are up looking like it's pretty much universally positive to varying degrees.

Also until this I was completely unaware I could buy games for 48 bucks day one on Amazon. I am potato

Yeah, too many companies pulling bullchit with pre-orders/launch fails. Out of principle I refuse to pre-order unless its a franchise I am already wholeheartedly invested in. Doesn't matter to me how many websites a company pays for positive pre launch promotion.

That's definitely best practice. I'm not sure there are any franchises left I'd play regardless even if they put out a turd game
