I miss the good old days when you had 4 Engine Boeing 747-400s dominating the skys even for domestic travel.
Whenever I fly from New York to LA, I try to go on a 777 or 767 or A330-300 at the smallest(unfortunately they're all 2 engine aircraft).
4 Engine Aircraft are MUCH safer than 2 engine Aircraft(look at the miracle on the Hudson, a 4 engine aircraft would have easily landed back at the airport).
Unfortunately the Boeing 747-8, Airbus A380-800, and the aging Airbus A340-600 are the ONLY Jet aircraft with 4 engines that you can really fly on today.
You usually also have to fly overseas to even have a chance to get on a real Jumbo or Superjumbo.
Only Qantas flies the 747-8 and A380-800 Super Jumbo from New York to LAX, but the catch is that you have to book a flight from New York to Sydney to get on those beautiful aircraft from New York to LAX.
Why do so many people not care if they're crammed like sardines on a TINY LITTLE Air Bus A321 or Boeing 737 when they could get on a better, safer, more conformable plane if they take a few more minutes to book the flight?
Why would people get crammed like Sardines HERE
When they can stretch out in a really tall and wide cabin like this with more leg, shoulder, head, and hip room?
Why kind of Cuck Manlet prefers to fly on the plane in the back?

Why do people fly on tiny little narrow body planes when they can fly on wide bodys?

i heard that it is cheaper and quicker to run a small jet than a big one, you know how long those 747s take to reach cruising altitude compared to a small airbus, it is not worth running a big jet for less than 2000 miles tbh

777 can fly with a single engine. 747 and A380 are long haul aircraft for popular flights were customers turnout greatly outweighs the fiscal difference of running a fuel efficient longrange jetliner like the 777.

Have you ever looked at flight schedules, OP?
Utilizing multiple smaller jets allows airlines to offer several flights per day between airports, while having one big jet means that there's only one flight available per day.
Nowadays, people can take a redeye from New York to Los Angeles to attend a meeting, have lunch and sign some papers, then fly back in time to eat dinner at home before 9pm. All of these can be accomplished in a 16 hour day, and if you miss one flight, there will be another flight departing within an hour.
In the past, accomplishing this feat took 1.5-2 days, along with hotel costs, because a whole day's worth of passengers had to fly in the same 747 across the country at once.

The main reason for the poorer fuel economy per seat for the 747-8 and A380-800 is because the passengers have FAR MORE ROOM. If the seating was set up to be as cramped as any of the twin jets, the fuel economy per seat would have been much better than the twin jets. Airbus was also going to make an A-380 Neo with much better fuel economy and and many A380-900 and A380-1000 stretched variants, but there simply isn't any demand left.
I think the airlines are making a BIG mistake by thinking short term because air traffic volume is increasing at very fast pace.
There are only limited landing and takeoff slots available at J.F.K. LAX, Heathrow and many other major airports.
Once demand is too great for twin jets to be able to fill the volume of passengers needed, then the airlines that have many A-380s and 747-8 are going to become FAR more profitable than those with smaller Twin Jets.
There are many airlines that actually really need the Airbus A380 and Boeing 747-8 such as Pakistan International Airlines and Air India, but they are too poor to afford it. It would be nice of some airlines started selling their used A380s and 747-8s to poorer Airlines and buying brand new ones themselves. That way there would be be less air traffic with the same number of passengers still being served.

There's about a dozen different reasons why widebodies aren't used often but I feel like this is a troll thread
