Any supplements that help with stress?

I noticed after a hard workout I get a lot of muscle tension and cramps. The tension is in my chest and throat, shoulders, traps like a /tightness/tension. And the cramps are on both sides of my stomach during cardio mostly. But usually a day or 2 after intense lifting or cardio I will feel the tension.

I suspect I may be chest breathing during exercise.. but I do try to exaggerate belly breathing. My doctor saids it's just stress and anxiety and I'm fine after they did many tests. I'm trying to fix my breathing through breathing exercises.. but is their anything that can help supplement wise with stress? Thanks all.

If your doctor has officially told you that there's no underlying problems, then you might look into adaptogens like ashwagandha and rhodiola. These will help with stress and/or anxiety.

How much sleep/rest are you getting?

What is causing you to be stressed/anxious? Are you on any prescribed medication for those symptoms?

Two of my absolute favorite supps. I take 600mg KSM66 and some Rhodiola every morning and notice a significant difference in my stress levels.

Ive tried Ashwaghanda the 2 best brands I could find and no luck
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003P...ds=ashwagandha

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00F1...ds=ashwagandha

Those are the 2 brands I tried for a couple of months with the right dosages. So I guess I'm going to try rodiola next. Unless anyone has anything else to suggest that they think would be better.

8-10 hours as I'm not working currently and I guess I'm stressed about the symptoms I'm feeling. But I want to try the natural route first before medicine TBH.

You can't link to outside vendors, they aren't even standardized extracts, recommended ashwaghanda are patented sensoril or KSM-66.

Gaba is a good one. Check out MPA Cortisolve this worked wonders for me, even though I felt it was a bit on the expensive side... It was worth it and helped a lot with the stress I was under.

Did you have any side effects? The only reason I'm hesistant on it is I've read it can raise blood pressure and cause tingling and numbness and a couple other things. I've tried inistol and that stuff works legit.. I've heard gaba is similar.

Watch your water intake - you can actually deplete your body of electrolytes because that is something that happened to me.
Watch your diet - ensure you get plenty of nutrients, not just focus on macros.
Maybe you are training too hard for your body - dial it back a bit and see if improvements happen.
Supps - Glutamine can actually elevate your mood and decrease stress and anxiety up to a point. Gaba had the opposite affect on me versus what others have listed above. It gave me bad anxiety.
Melatonin can help with getting a restful sleep. I know you mentioned you get a full 8 hours but is it restful sleep. There is a difference.
ZMA - can also help with restful sleep.
The most important thing and only you can do this is correct the underlying cause of your stress and that will help you overall in all aspects of your health.

With my anxiety, and I have it bad I take hydroxyzine (this is RX). I used to take benzos but I do NOT want to be on those again and I do not recommend those. Hydroxyzine is often given to patients before going under surgery to help calm their nerves and it is also an anti-histamine. It will make you feel sleepy the first couple of weeks but that does go away.

    I wish you the best.

    Thanks a lot

I've tried all of that besides ZMA and Glutamine. I do go to sleep late as I have troubles sleeping. And according to my Fitbit I do wake up every once in a while but it saids I'm restless but I still feel like I get pretty good sleep I'll just toss and turn a couple of times. My diet is pretty good with a good amount of veggies and fruit and Whole Foods (No sugars,Processed foods) and lots of water. I've actually tried Hydroxzine in 2011 as they wouldn't give me Benzos and it just made me tired it never wore off lol it didn't help my anxiety at all even at the max dose. I think I'm going to try that ZMA. I already take protein powder with added glutamine (iso100) so hopefully that's enough? And cut back on my workouts. I think my next step is Chinese medicine and acupuncture

Did they do a stress test or just a EKG? This is a very valuable question IMO.

3 EKGs/MRI/Chest X Ray,3 Different types of bloodworks and blood panels ect.. tested for almost everything from my blood. I told them I'm stressed out about what I'm feeling (the symptoms) but they never ordered a stress test. My symptoms used to be worst but I've dramatically improved through exercise and diet. Really all that's left is the muscle tension and tightness.

^This, a stress test is actually testing your heart function. They can do an exercise stress test where you are running on treadmill, or using a bike or something form of cardio, or a nuclear stress test with a injectable medication.

The best thing you can do is get adequate sleep

My favorite sleep supplement is Gaba before bed.
Another good one is 3z with good relaxing ingredients and good vitamin ratios

Caffeine and stimulants certainly help, but it's not the reason for those type of increases. Some, sure. But I'd attribute most of it to getting back into it and likely getting more rest now with a better work routine as well.

I found that if I have anything above 5g of gaba I do get a noticeable flush feeling, this goes away the more you use it. And it regulates your breathing so you can relax

St John's Wort. Shown to be just as effective and sometimes more -than SSRI

It can interact with other meds and cause seretonin syndrome though so you just have to double check before you take another new med.

None of the OTC stuff makes any real difference

SSRIs kind of suck but no risk of dependency / side effects. they work

Idk the doctors never ordered one. I went to the hospital a couple of times for Chest pain and tingling / burning skin. They just did EKG/bloodwork/MRI/chest x ray. I did a couple of follow up visits and they said it's just stress. When I workout hard I don't have any chest pain or issues.

But I guess I'm going to concentrate on relaxing more and get ZMA. I already use melatonin but I'm trying to get off that due to dependency and crap dreams.

Those are the 2 brands I tried for a couple of months with the right dosages. So I guess I'm going to try rodiola next. Unless anyone has anything else to suggest that they think would be better.
Did you dose them high enough? No idea what the withanolide content of the second one is, but the first one looks like you only get 2.5mg withanolides out of the second ashwagandha on the label (first doesn't appear to be standardized at all), so unless you used 12 caps per day, you probably didn't use the correct dosages. Give it another try with a better dosed ashwagandha (either KSM-66, Sensoril, or something else dosed high that lists standardization).

Yea I think I did 4-7,000 mg which is 4 caps for the Indian brand I don't remember it's been awhile.. but I do remember googling to reccomended dosage for anxiety and I hit that number.
